Cash Cab is yet another British import game show making the rounds on American television. Comedian Ben Bailey is the host and driver of the Cash Cab. Once in the cab, players are bombarded with trivia questions. The first four questions are worth $25 each, the next four $50, and the rest worth $100. In the third season, these are doubled to $50, $100 and $200 respectively. Depending on how long the trip is (Bailey will tell the fare beforehand how many blocks they are away from their destination), a contestant could earn over $1000 in the Cash Cab. However, a contestant must be careful about answering questions incorrectly or freezing. Each incorrect answer/freeze earns the contestant a strike, and three strikes cause the contestant to be kicked out of the cab without a dime. To help the contestant along, two help options are provided. One is a "Mobile Shoutout," during which the fare may make a 30-second phone call to ask a friend for help. The other is a "Street Shoutout," in which Bailey will pull the cab over to the curb and the fare will ask someone on the street to help answer the question. Along the way, if the contestant has earned more than $200 and the cab is stopped at a red light, the Red Light Challenge is initiated. The contestant is given a multi-answer question and has 30 seconds to give all the correct answers. If successful, $250 is added to their score. No penalty is given for failing to complete the challenge. Once the cab has reached its destination, Bailey offers a choice to his fare: either exit the cab with the money right then and there, or risk it all on a slightly more difficult video bonus question. If the contestant chooses to take the risk, he is shown a video clip and then asked a question about it. A correct answer doubles the contestant's winnings, but an incorrect answer leaves him with nothing.moreless

Monster Garage is a game show where a group of people who have a passion for building, modifying, or fabricating cars get the chance to create a vehicle that can transform into a completely different machine. If the build is successful, the build crew gets a tool chest with $3,400 worth of Mac tools. Later add-ons to the prize, Monster Garage soundtrack CD, and occasionally (to some of the builders who go above and beyond) a Monster Garage jacket. If the build is a failure, host Jesse James feeds it to a shredder. James got his Discovery Channel fame by being chronicled in Motorcycle Mania and Motorcycle Mania 2. In Monster Garage, he is practically involved in every build; from design, construction (or destruction), and the Monster Challenge.moreless

Hosted by reformed ex-burglars, Matt Johnston and Jon Douglas Rainey, It Takes a Thief tests the home-security of the average home owner by staging actual burglaries to reveal security shortcomings. In each episode, Matt and Jon search for a location to rob. In the first season, Matt would speak to the owners and convinced them that it would be a good idea to have their house robbed. Matt would then have the owners show him what security they did have in place. Then the homeowners would lock up and would join Matt in the production van to watch the break in on closed circuit TV. In the second season, the producers would approach the owners and in most cases, Jon would break in while the owners weren't home and Matt would watch the break in alone. The homeowners would then be shown the tapes upon returning home. In both seasons, after a walkthrough of the house, the homeowners had the opportunity to meet Jon and have him answer their questions of how and why. After all of the property was returned and the mess cleaned up, Matt would return with a team of security experts then give the property a full security makeover complete with everything from locks to landscaping. A few weeks later, Matt and Jon returned and Jon tested the new security system by attempting to break in once again. After premiering in 2005, It Takes a Thief ran for 2 seasons and is currently on hiatus.moreless
