Massive Engines is a science documentary TV series from the Discovery Network hosted by British actor, Chris Barrie. Big engines and super sized manmade machines take the spotlight in this series, with Barrie starting the season by taking a look at some massive hole digging machines. The host heads to Caterpillar Inc. to see how the company's engineers make a machine that's the size of a two-story building. Barrie goes to China in the next episode to follow the firework's evolution, which leads him to Houston, TX, where he gets a glimpse of NASA engineers constructing giant-sized rockets. Other supercharged machines that appear on the show include racing cars, airliners and even rocket powered bicycles. By mid-season, Barrie heads to Detroit, MI, to take a look at the combustible engine, where he learns from science engineers that the idea for the machine came from looking at antique cannons in action. By the end of the season, the show focuses on massive engines of the future, gazing at fictional designs for flying airships that also float on water and super-fast commuter trains.moreless
