The Simpsons

Originally created by cartoonist Matt Groening, "Our Favorite Family," has graced the small screen in one form or another for over 20 years. The Simpson family first appeared on television as the subjects of interstitial "shorts" on The Tracey Ullman Show in April of 1987. The Simpsons remained a staple on The Tracey Ullman Show for three seasons until they premiered in their own half-hour series, on December 17, 1989. With the help of Jim Brooks and Sam Simon, Matt Groening's cartoon family turned into an instant success. Set in Springfield, the average American town, the show focuses on the antics and everyday adventures of the Simpson family; Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, as well as a virtual cast of thousands. Since the beginning, the series has been a pop culture icon, attracting hundreds of celebrities to guest star. The show has also made name for itself in its fearless satirical take on politics, media and American life in general. Currently in its 24th season, The Simpsons has piled up over 500 episodes, over 20 Emmy Awards, a handful of music albums, countless endorsements and merchandise, and even made the jump to the silver screen in the summer of 2007 with The Simpsons Movie. American Dad!

American Dad! from Family Guy creator, Seth MacFarlane, is the animated story of Stan Smith, who works for the CIA and is constantly on the alert for terrorist activity. Stan will go to extremes to protect his beloved America from harm – as evidenced by the terror-alert color code on his fridge, and his frequent knee-jerk reaction of shooting holes in the toaster whenever the toast pops up.

Stan Smith - Stan works for the CIA, and is constantly on the look-out for terrorists. He loves his family and will do anything to protect them, and his country.

Francine Smith - Stan's wife, she has had a past life of drugs, but she has carefully hidden her party-girl personality for the sake of the conservative man she loves. She met Stan after college.

Hayley Smith - The teenage daughter of the family, currently attending community college. Despite her father's best efforts she has turned out to be a left-wing liberal. Stan loves his daughter, but that doesn't necessarily mean he trusts her.

Steve Smith - The dorky son, he tries to act cool, but fails. Steve is on the verge of puberty - but he just can't quite make it. His low social status sometimes leads him to taking drastic action - but no matter what he does, he's just a dork.

Roger - A sarcastic alien rescued by Stan from Area 51. He resents not being allowed to leave the house, so has resorted to drinking wine and smoking cigarettes.

Klaus - A German-talking goldfish, he was a CIA experiment that went horribly wrong when they tried transplanting a German man's brain into a goldfish. Klaus lusts after Francine, and will take any opportunity that comes his way.

Hank is a true Texan, who loves everything Texas, and hates most things non-Texan. He is a propane gas salesman in the fictional town Arlen, Texas. Hank is often besieged by the idiosyncrasies of society and often has to be the "hero". He has a wife Peggy who starts off as a Substitute Spanish Teacher, but picks up other jobs along the way, a son Bobby, who seems to be the polar opposite of Hank, and a live-in (for the first few seasons) niece-in-law Luanne Platter, who at times can be an airhead. Hank spends a great deal of time in front of his fence drinking beer with his odd friends, divorcee military barber Bill Dauterive, paranoid Dale Gribble (with an obsession with Government conspiracy theories) and gibberish spouting Boomhauer.

Spider-Man Unlimited

FOX (ended 2001)

This series is a spin off of the Spider-man show in 1994. Hijacking a space shuttle to save John Jameson, who crash-landed on another planet as the result of Venom and Carnage attacking his ship during its flight into space, Spider-Man ends up stranded on Counter-Earth, an Earth-like planet in the same orbit on the other side of the sun. On Counter-Earth, he finds a high-tech society where humanoid animals, also known as beastials, rule under the leadership of the High Evolutionary, while humans, the minorities, are seen as second class citizens and must be "tagged" with tracking devices that prevent them from attempting to rebel against the beastials. If that wasn't bad enough, Venom and Carnage are about, having their minds set on global domintation through the help of the Synoptic - a hivemind producing spores that turn people into its mindless slaves. This series ended on a cliffhanger, as Marvel's bankruptcy brought the show to an unexpected end after the first season. Six episodes were produced for the second season, including a conclusion to the first season's finale (which was intended to be a multi-part episode), but never aired. There are currently no plans for a home video release, although Disney has acquired the rights to air and release episodes of the series.moreless

Godzilla: The Series

Picking up where the blockbuster motion picture left off, Godzilla: The Series is a new fast-paced animated adventure series that pits humanity against a new generation of giant monsters. Born of radiation on a French Polynesian island, GODZILLA wreaks havoc on the city while attempting to find a nest to give birth to its young. The overgrown lizard appears unstoppable, until biologist NICK TATOPOULOS and French Secret Service operative PHILLIPE ROACHE team up to take down the beast. Life in the greater Tri-State area begins to return to normal, well almost! It appears the late, great King of the Monsters has left behind an heir to the throne. During a routine clean-up sweep of the city's decimated subway tunnels, Nick encounters the hatchling during its crucial imprinting stage. Rather than attacking Nick, the creature actually bonds with him as a bizarre pseudo-parent figure. Parting company with the military task force headed by Major Hicks, Nick recruits his own environmentally-directed research outfit - HEAT(Humanitarian Ecological Analysis Team). Recruiting a few of his colleagues from the original Godzilla. research team, as well as some new allies, Nicksets out to study not only this new generation of Godzilla., but also to investigate the increasing reports of unusual beasties and other environmental anomalies popping up across the globe. Monsters of all types - natural, unnatural, man-made, alien, regal, reptilian, mammalian, insectoid, flying, floating, poisonous, electrified - have begun appearing on the scene weekly. Is it a result of nuclear testing? Or a hole in the ozone layer? Whatever their origin, the beasts have humanity terrified and desperately in need of heroes. Officially an extension of the New York Institute of Technology's "World Assistance Program," HEAT is soon to become the Earth's foremost Anti Monster Squad. Setting up a small research compound inside a derelict ferry terminal on the tip of Staten Island. HEAT headquarters quickly becomes a staging area for defending the world against monstrous threats and also for careful study of the young mutant reptile. Besides the research compound, their main HQ is a barnacle-covered vessel called "The Heat-Seeker." The military is not a strong believer in HEAT or the value of Godzilla. Tuff: Tuff is the younger brother of Tiff and always roots for Kirby in any battle. Tuff usually agrees with his sister but sometimes he would had a differ in mind. Tuff lives with his family in the King's castle. King Dedede: The monster-loving tyrant, known as King Dedede, neglects all the town's needs and wastes their riches on monsters that causes havoc. Escargoon, Dedede's servant, is Dedede's sidekick. King Dedede lacks reading and writing but loves to eat. Dedede lives in his castle on top of a hill. Escargoon: As a servant of King Dedede, he always follows the king's orders and carries out Dedede's plots. Escargoon would occasionally argue with the King but would often be responded with attacks from the King's hammer. Escargoon lives in the King's castle. Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century

Sherlock Holmes has been rescusitated in the 22nd century to combat Moriarty's clone. With the help of a droid programmed with the personality of Watson, Inspector Beth Lestrade of New Scotland Yard, and the Baker Street Irregulars, Holmes searches for clues and usually manages to come up with a solution that keeps everyone guessing. Characters Sherlock Holmes: Sharp as a tack, but not a real people person, this guy is pretty self explanatory. He uses deductive logic (i.e. All lights in this room are green. There is a light on the table. Therefore it must be green.) to solve crimes. If you listen hard, you can usually follow his explanation, at least by the last few minutes of the show. Watson: A compudroid programmed to have the personality of Watson (complete with the phrase "I don't understand, Holmes. How did you know..."), Watson was initially rejected by Holmes, who thought no one, and especially no robot, could replace the real Watson. Watson is great in a tight spot, as he is much stronger than the average human (and most of the non-average ones as well). Inspector Beth Lestrade: Apparently a descendant of the Lestrade in the original short stories, this girl is something else. Wild, reckless, destructive, always bucking authority, and generally "tough-cop", she is always ready to act on insufficient information. But, all in all, she usually settles down enough to be of some service at least once or twice an episode. Wiggins: A would-be boxer, this guy used to play soccer at Princeton. He is one of the Baker Street Irregulars, employed by Holmes to be an extra set of eyes, ears, and legs. Wiggins checks out leads, shadows people, and generally helps Holmes out by gathering facts. He has a girlfriend named Jacey, but as far as I know she hasn't figured into much. Deidre: This girl is also one of the Baker Street Irregulars, and does mostly the same things as Wiggins. However, she sometimes sees things a different way than either Holmes, Watson, or Wiggins, and this unique perspective makes her invaluable. Tennison: Confined to an anti-grav chair, Tennison is the computer expert of the bunch. He helps Holmes out by checking computer systems and security systems. Moriarty: Cloned back to life as an accident, he is again wreacking havoc, though this time in New London. He is Holmes' archenemy, and was basically the model for a lot of evil geniuses with extensive networks.moreless

While he captures the heart of Princess Millerna of Asturia, he is a noted womanizer. He's a member of the Knight Caeli, Asturia's elite knights. A gifted (yet rebellious) swordsman at a young age, he became one of the most skilled swordsmen of Gaea under the expert tutelage of Balgus of Fanelia. Merle: Height: 5' Weight: 66lbs Hair: Pink Eyes: Brown Age: 13 Origin: Fanelia A cat-girl and childhood friend of Van. She is jealous of Van's increasingly close relationship with Hitomi, but eventually sees that Hitomi means no harm to Van and warms up to her. An orphan, she has since devotedly followed Van. Her eldest sister, Marlene, is deceased and was once the wife of Duke Freid and the mother of the Duke's son, Chid. Bornkirk: Height: n/a Weight: n/a Hair: White Eyes: Brown Age: 200+ Origin: Earth The leader of Zaibach and main antagonist of the series. He is said to be the equivalent of two hundred Earth years old and is hinted to be Isaac Newton (although this is debatable). He continually tries to see into the future with his destiny prognostication machine to create an ideal future for Gaea by unlocking the secrets of Atlantis, which Hitomi's visions of the future and Van's connection to Escaflowne continually interfere with. His idea of an ideal future is the creation of a "zone of absolute fortune", in which everyone's dreams would come true. However, it is that very power that destroyed Atlantis in the first place. Folken Fanel: Height: 6'3" Weight: 208lbs Hair: Blue Eyes: Brown Age: 25 Origin: Fanelia The Strategos (Japanese gunji or "tactician") of Zaibach, Folken is revealed to be Van's older brother and the original heir to Fanelia. He, like Van, is half Draconian and thus he also has angel wings. He originally joined Zaibach in hopes of realizing Zaibach's ideals of world free of war, but is later disillusioned and defects to those who fight Zaibach. His wings turn black, a sure sign that his life is coming to an end. As it does when he travels back to Zaibach to confront Dornkirk. Although Draconians have a long lifespan, Dornkirk's experiments have left their toll. In the earlier episodes of the series Folken is referred to as Strategos, which is the rank of Imperial advisor to Dornkirk.Countries and places: Gaea - A mystical world in the sky that Hitomi visits and where the series takes place. Earth can be seen as a moon in the sky. It was created by the Atlantians. Mystic Moon - This is what the residents of Gaea call Earth. It has a reputation for being a cursed place among the people of Gaea. It appears as though the people of Gaea know nothing about what the Earth really is, although Hitomi is hinted (and later shown) not to be the first person to come to Gaea from Earth. Fanelia - A small kingdom in Gaea ruled by the Fanel family of which Van is king. It is demolished by Zaibach near the beginning of the series and it rebuilt at the very end of the series. Fanelia bears some similarities to feudal-era Japan. Asturia - A major kingdom in Gaea that was initially allied with Zaibach before leading an alliance against them. The country is a monarchy and it's greatest warriors are known as the "Knights of Caeli". Asturia bears some resemblance to Renaissance-era Venice. Freid - A duchy in Gaea that is ruled by the Freid family. It has an ancient artifact that Dornkirk needs to complete his plan to revive the power of Atlantis. This artifacts draws the attention of Zaibach who invades Freid. Freid is said to have been based on Thailand. Zaibach - A large powerful nation ruled by Dornkirk that possesses very advanced technology. They seek to create a new era of peace by controlling the world and are led by Dornkirk. Zaibach is similar to Industrial Revolution-era England. Atlantis - An ancient, mysterious civilization on Earth that was destroyed after its inhabitants created a device to turn human will into energy. The few survivors are known as "Draconians" and live on Gaea, although it is unknown how many Draconians are left. Most of the main characters of the show visit the ruins of Atlantis late in the series.moreless
