    FOX (ended 1997)
Eek! the Cat, (whose original title was going to be "The Six and a Half Lives of Eek the Cat"), is about a chubby purple cat who lives in a cartoon world and his Motto is "It never hurts to help", well sometimes for Eek it does, but he always gets hurt and his adventures spoof many movies and TV shows. In the show's 2nd season, it added a new segment called The Terrible Thunderlizards, (which is about dinosaur mercenaries who must capture two humans, but always fail to do so), which resulted a name change: "Eek! and The Terrible Thunderlizards". Later on, the show was renamed "Eek! Stravaganza" and added another segment called "Klutter", (which is about a pile of clothes brought to life by static electricity by two brothers).moreless

    Beetleborgs

    Beetleborgs

    FOX (ended 1998)
This guide covers the program known as "Saban's Big Bad Beetleborgs" (in its first season) and "Saban's Beetleborgs Metallix" (in its second and final season). It was the third "companion series" to the Power Rangers franchise, and eventually rose in ratings to point it was number 1 in all key demographics. The show was about three typical pre-teen kids, Drew, Roland, and Jo, living in the city of Charterville, where they tend to hang out as Roland's father's comic book store, Zoom Comics. One day, on a dare, the trio entered the local haunted house (known as Hillhurst Mansion), and encounter a gang of crazy gang, child-hugry monsters! While trying to escape, they bumped into a pipe organ, accidentally freeing a wacky blue phasm by the name Flabber. As thanks for releasing him from his prison, he gave them a wish, which they were unanimous on: the kids wanted to be their favorite comic book superheroes - the Beetleborgs! But in fulfilling their wish, Flabber accidentally releases the Beetleborgs' enemies, the evil Magnavores, from the comic book world as well. Now the kids, as the armored, insect-powered, (adult-) cyborg warriors called the Beetleborgs, must defend their city from the Magnavores, which include Noxic, Jara, Typhus and their boss, Vexor, as they release evil creatures also out of any issue of the comics. The comic arsenal is also at the kids' disposal, including powerful weapons and three giant fighting machines known as the Beetle A.V.s. The shy but courageous Drew takes the form of the Blue Stinger Beetleborg (and later, the Chromium Gold Beetleborg). He also has the civilian ability of telekinetic powers. Jo, his tomboyish younger sister (who later goes through a change of actresses due to a magic spell gone bad), is the Red Striker (and later Platinum Purple) Beetleborg, and has the civilian ability of super-strength. And the budding magician Roland is the Green Hunter Beetleborg (and later, the Titanium Silver Beetleborg), with super-speed as his civilian ability. Then in "BeetleBorgs Metallix", Art Fortunes, creator of the Beetleborgs comics, creates better and more powerful armor for the heroes, to combat a new line of evil which are created by Art's criminal insane brother, Les Fortunes! His creation of Nukus, Horribelle, Vilor, and their Crustaceans are the new enemies of these new Metallix-powered Beetleborgs. The supporting cast includes Flabber's child-hungry roommates, known as the House Monsters (which include vampiric Count Fangula, tightly-wound Mums, dim-witted Frankenbeans, incomprehensable Wolfgang, and later the fiesty Little Ghoul); Roland's butt-kicking, bike-riding grandmother Nano; Roland's Zoom Comics-owning father Aaron (and later his mother, Abby); Heather, a pretty young girl who works at Zoom and Drew has a major crush on; and Van & Trip, two millionaire brats who tend to bully around the kids. Big Bad Beetleborgs was adapted from the 1995 Toei Metal Hero program, "Juukou Bii Faitaa (Heavy Armor B-Fighter). Beetleborgs Metallix was adapted from the 1996 Toei Metal Hero program, "Bii Faitaa Kabuto" (B-Fighter Kabuto). The series aired Mondays to Fridays, and Saturday mornings, on the Fox Kids block of the Fox network, from its inception, until the fall of 1998, when reruns of it moved to the UPN Kids block of the United Paramount Network. It has not aired in the USA since 1999, though continues to run in other countries, most notably the United Kingdom. The series ended due to two major factors: Toei stopped production of its Metal Hero series, meaning no series to adapt for a third season (which was tentatively titled Beetleborgs Force), which would have meant much higher production costs. And secondly, Saban Entertainment needed to free up more money to fund the Ireland co-production Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog. The toy line even continued after the show ended its run! Beetleborgs (both seasons) was a production of Renaissance-Atlantic Films. A co-production of Toei Company, LTD. and Bugboy Productions, Inc. And copyrighted by Saban Entertainment, Inc. and Saban International, N.V. (which is now owned by Disney, and goes by the name of BVS Entertainment, Inc.) (One last FYI: Shannon "Jo #1" Chandler and Elisabeth "Heather" Lund were nominated for "Best Performance by a Young Actress in a Saturday Morning TV Program" at the YoungStar Awards for the series)moreless

The Simple Life: 'Til Death Do Us Part

The Simple Life: 'Til Death Do Us Part

    FOX
Simple Life Til’ Death Do Us Part starring Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie is the fourth season of the Simple Life reality series. This season premiered on June 4th, 2006 and marked the departure of the girls working together as a team, as they were allegedly “not speaking” throughout its filming. This was also the first season of the show to be broadcast on E! Entertainment Networks rather than FOX, who had cancelled the series after three seasons. On each episode, Paris and Nicole travel to a Los Angeles household where they take turns playing “housewife” to the host family. The girls take care of general household chores, such as washing the dishes, doing laundry, cleaning the house and making dinner. They struggle with the challenges of motherhood as they try to juggle running a household while looking after energetic children. The duo step into a wide range of roles, from conservative Pakistani housewives to New-Age artists. At the end of each episode, the husband decides which of the two girls succeeded as his “wife.” Though both girls encounter many disastrous moments throughout their days as housewives, one generally comes out on top. Watch this hilarious season of the Simple Life to find out if Paris Hilton or Nicole Ritchie make a better housewife!moreless

    Oliver Beene

    Oliver Beene

    FOX (ended 2004)
This half-hour comedy follows the life of 11-year-old Oliver Beene (Grant Rosenmeyer). It's 1962 and Oliver's world is chaotic. His dentist father, Jerry (Grant Shaud) likes to spend Sundays drilling his kids' teeth; his mom, Charlotte (Wendy Makkena) does her best to be the happy homemaker; and his brother Ted (Andy Lawrence) has a transistor radio practically glued to his head listening to sports. Oliver's life is tolerable thanks to his friends, heavyweight Neal (Ben Bookbinder) and lightweight Michael (Taylor Emerson), who is obviously gay in a time when that still means happy. The show is narrated by the adult Oliver who depicts the trials of growing up during the Cold War with a wickedly wry humor. Oliver longs for normalcy, something that's difficult when the family is practicing drills for the end of civilization. Oliver also has to contend with Mrs. Heller (Annie Korzen), a teacher who hates him; Joyce (Daveigh Chase), a classmate who thinks she's married to him; and Bonnie (Amy Castle), the red-haired girl who's out of his league. Flashbacks and flash-forwards vividly re-create the Kennedy-era '60s in this fast-paced comedy.moreless

    Ned and Stacey

    Ned and Stacey

    FOX (ended 1997)
Welcome to the Ned and Stacey guide at TV Tome. The idea may not have been totally original--a man and a woman who can't stand each other enter a marriage of convenience--but the execution of Ned and Stacey makes it one of the most truly underappreciated sitcom classics of all time. Besides having first-class writing, N&S feaures eye-opening performances from its lead characters. Thomas Haden Church, best known as Lowell on Wings, created a different persona for himself and his impeccable and uncanny comic timing is a joy to watch. Debra Messing is just about perfect in her role as Stacey, and many will find her performances here even more fun to watch than her later role on Will & Grace. Greg Germann (later to be seen on Ally McBeal) and Nadia Dajani do not let down the show's high standard in their supporting roles. After the show's initial run on the Fox network, Ned and Stacey became an integral part of the USA Network's "USAM" comedy lineup, as it was on and off that network from 1998 until April 2001, gaining new popularity as it caught the eye of many a viewer who never saw it in the first place, including many Will & Grace fans who were curious to see this earlier incarnation of Grace Adler played by Debra Messing. After that, N&S junkies were out of luck, waiting and hoping that some network would pick up the 46 episodes of the show and begin showing them again. Then, on October 20, 2003, to our great delight, the cable channel WE (Women's Entertainment) began running the program again. It was Ned and Stacey heaven for their fans until late July 2004, when the network abruptly stopped running the show. We can only hope that some channel somewhere in the US will pick up the series once again. Until then, we'll just have to rely on memories. We hope this guide will help. If we hear of its return, we'll let you know, and you let us know if you hear anything first. If you have any questions about the data herein, e-mail me at Procyon3001@aol.com Pictured L-R: Nadia Dajani, Greg Germann, Thomas Haden Church, Debra Messing N&S showing in UK As of October 2004, Ned and Stacey can be seen by viewers in Great Britain on the Paramount Comedy channel. It's on every day at 2:30PM with repeats at 12:05AM, apparently! N&S in Australia TV Tome users tell us starting December 1, 2004, Ned and Stacey will be broadcast weekdays at 10PM, Australian EST, on the cable network Foxtel on TV1.moreless

This series from Victor Fresco (Andy Richter Controls the Universe) centers on several teen characters who work and hang out at the mall food court. There is 18-year-old, optimistic-but-not-ambitious Laz (Zachary Knighton, The Prince and Me); his 16-year-old angst-ridden and angry stepsister, Molly (Saige Thompson, 10-8: Officers on Duty); Laz's best friend Fred (Charlie Finn, Super Troopers); and Laz's new girlfriend Lily (Rachelle Lefevre, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow). Home base for Laz and Molly is a blended family formed by the marriage of Laz's dad, Rick (Matthew Glave, The Wedding Singer), and Molly's mom, Michelle (Amy Yasbeck, The Mask). Rick and Molly love all of their children, but they are particularly obsessed with the only product of their union together: the sweet, perfect and wise 8-year-old Gus (Frankie Ryan Manriquez). Laz and Fred both 18, have been friends forever. Just out of high school, and unsure what they want to do with their lives, they take jobs at a mall food court, at the lame "Yippee, Hot Dogs" run by the always yelling Mr.Hut (Maz Jobrani). There, Laz meets the girl of his dreams, the lovely and strong-willed Lily. Optimistic but not ambitious, Laz cuts a deal with his well-meaning but superficial dad Rick and equally superficial stepmom Michelle which allows Laz to continue living rent-free at home. All Laz has to do is keep an eye on his stepsister (Michelle's daughter), the angry, angst-ridden, 16-year-old Molly. Michelle and Rick hope that Laz will help socialize Molly and get her on the right track with the boy she likes - the sweet and very honest Jasper.
