The X-Files is a Peabody, Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning American science fiction television series created by Chris Carter, which first aired on September 10, 1993, and ended on May 19, 2002. Running for 9 seasons, the show was a hit for the Fox Broadcasting Company network, and its main characters and slogans (e.g., "The Truth Is Out There", "Trust No One", "I Want to Believe") became pop culture touchstones. The X-Files is seen as a defining series of the 1990s, coinciding with the era's widespread mistrust of governments, interest in conspiracy theories and spirituality, and the belief in the existence of extraterrestrial life. TV Guide called The X-Files the Second greatest cult television show and the 37th best television show of all time. In 2007, Time magazine included it on a list of the "100 Best TV Shows of All Time." In 2008, Entertainment Weekly named it Classic Sci-fi and the fourth best TV show in the last 25 years. This long running FOX drama lasted nine seasons and focused on the exploits of FBI Agents Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, John Doggett and Monica Reyes and their investigations into the paranormal. From genetic mutants and killer insects to a global conspiracy concerning the colonisation of Earth by an alien species, this mind-boggling, humourous and occasionally frightening series created by Chris Carter has been one of the world's most popular sci-fi/drama shows since its humble beginnings in 1993. The show has also spawned two movies, The X-Files Movie in 1998 and I Want To Believe in 2008. So sit back and enjoy the fascinating world of The X-Files. The entire nine seasons of The X-Files are now available on DVD! As well has hundreds of books written about the show. This is a modern day twist on Washington Irving's classic in which Ichabod Crane, resurrected 250 years in the future, pairs up with a present-day cop, Lieutenant Abbie Mills, to save the town of Sleepy Hollow from unparalleled evil. With Ichabod's extensive first-hand knowledge of this country’s hidden history and Abbie’s superior profiling and modern threat assessment skills, the two make an awesome team. Ichabod realizes early on that stopping his formidable foe, the Headless Horseman, is just the beginning, and he is but the first of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Clues from past mysteries enlighten the present as each episode features a flashback to Ichabods's 1776 life. The stories are shrouded in American history and mythology. Besides his own, another life in the balance is Ichabod's late wife, Katrina, who has become trapped in a type of netherworld. In order to save her, all he can do is gather the secrets he finds about her. Part of Ichabod's new life is Captain Frank Irving who doesn't always believe Ichabod's tales of 1776 but when bizarre events unfold that can't be explained, Irving grudgingly hands over the cases to Ichabod and Abbie.moreless

Something Wicked Has Washed Ashore... Something wicked this way comes to Point Pleasant, a usually quiet New Jersey beach town, when a sudden, violent storm washes in more than the tide. After local lifeguard JESSE PARKER (Sam Page) sees the beautiful CHRISTINA NICKSON (Elisabeth Harnois) floating in the ocean, he dives into the dangerous waters to save her life and bring her to safety. Little does Jesse know that his heroic rescue heralds the beginning of a battle between good and evil. Jesse brings Christina to the home of DR. BEN (Richard Burgi) and MEG KRAMER (Susan Walters), whose reclusive daughter JUDY (Aubrey Dollar) takes an instant liking to their new houseguest. The Kramers have seen their share of hardship – their youngest daughter passed away a couple of years ago – and Christina appears to bring light back into their house. For Christina, Point Pleasant offers both a respite from her protected boarding-school existence in New York, and the opportunity to search for her long-lost mother, a Point Pleasant native. Unbeknownst to Christina, her arrival in Point Pleasant has a profound effect on the small seaside community. Her presence awakens repressed feelings, unlocks suppressed desires and heightens emotions among the residents. Tensions flare between Jesse and best friend TERRY BURKE (Brent Weber), who secretly pines for Jesse’s possessive girlfriend, PAULA HARGROVE (Cameron Richardson). Paula’s hot-to-trot mother, AMBER (Dina Meyer), attempts to rekindle her relationship with the good Dr. Kramer, her childhood sweetheart. Even the strong love between Jesse’s parents, Police Captain LOGAN (Alex Carter) and church-going SARAH PARKER (Clare Carey), is tested, especially when the mysterious and charismatic LUCAS BOYD (Grant Show), a man with ties to Christina’s father, moves into town and begins to insinuate himself into Christina’s new life. As Christina and Jesse fight their budding attraction, Christina enlists Jesse’s help to search for answers to her family’s past, all the while trying to suppress the evil inside her – and the power that comes with it. While Christina never knew her mother, she will come to realize that she’s never known her “real” father, either. Christina is the offspring of a mortal woman and the Devil – and the battle for her soul has begun. Point Pleasant is a 20th Century Fox Television Production. Marti Noxon ("Angel,” “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”), Marty Adelstein, Dawn Parouse ("Tru Calling") and Neal Moritz serve as executive producers. Point Pleasant was canceled after eight airings, but the complete first season of thirteen episodes is now available on DVD.moreless

I was a cop. My wife was raped, I caught the guy who did it, and I killed him. Two months later I died, and went to Hell. 113 of the most vile creature escaped. The high concept of this story is that Detective Ezekial Stone was sent to Hell for the murder of his wife's rapist. He spends 15 years in Hell, until 113 souls managed to escape. The Devil needs someone to send them back to Hell, but can't do much on the physical plane. So he sends Ezekial after them, with the promise that if Stone recovers all 113, he'll win permanent freedom from Hell. And if he fails, he's damned for good. All of the escapees as well as Stone are supernaturally indestructible, except they can inflict pain on each other. The only way to send someone back to Hell is to destroy their eyes, the "windows of the soul." Worse, some of the escapees spent centuries, if not millennia, in Hell and have developed great power - little of which Stone, a relatively recent prisoner, has himself. Each week, with a little help (and the occasional hindrance) from the Devil, Stone typically tracks down another of the escapees and sends them back to Hell. He is tattoed with the names of each one, and when he sends them back the appropriate tattoo burns itself off. Meanwhile, Stone's ex-wife still believes him dead, but Stone can't resist checking in on her from time to time. This series only ran 13 episodes on Fox, but has a devoted cult following and is rerun from time to time on the SciFi Channel.moreless
