    Corpse Princess was a Japanese manga, then anime series created by Feel and Gainax. The anime was a thirteen episode series that lasted for two seasons, airing from October 2nd 2008 to March 2009. The show was licensed to North America through Funimation Entertainment. It premiered on the Funimation channel on November 15th, 2010. The series revolves around Makina Hoshimura, an undead girl known as the Corpse Princess. Makina has to hunt down and destroy 108 undead corpses so she can gain entry into hevan with the help of a secret organization of anti corpse Buddhist monks. Makina and her family were murdered before becoming a living corpse. She now arms herself with dual MAC-11 submachine guns as she hunts down the other undead corpses. Helping her is the Buddhist priest Kesei Tagami connected to the anti-corpse group the Kougin Sect. Makina's ultimate aspiration is to avenge her family's death by killing the corpses known as the Seven Stars.moreless

Eden of the East begins three months after ten missiles have struck uninhabited areas of Japan. The event was dubbed "Careless Monday," as no was was affected by the bombings. A Japanese woman named Saki Morimi visits Washington D.C. on vacation. She runs into a mysterious Japanese man, named Akira Takizawa, who is naked except for a gun and a cell phone with access to a bank account with 8.2 billion yen in money. They travel back to Japan together and learn that another missile has hit Japan. Akira finds out that he has unwillingly become a participant in an intricate game that involves the unidentified money he came to acquire. The game is made up of 12 participants, including Akira. They are given 10 billion yen to save Japan from future, more successful missile attacks.moreless

    Shiki (Japanese for corpse demon) is a Japanese-style animated ("anime") series based on the eponymous horror novel by Japanese novelist Fuyumi Ono. Shiki is set in Sotoba, a small, docile village during a sweltering summer. The village begins to experience a number of mysterious deaths that coincide with the moving in of an unusual family into the Kanemasa mansion. Toshio Ozaki, a doctor at the only hospital in the village, begins to believe that an unexplained plague has descended upon the city. As he continues to investigate, however, he begins to suspect that the deaths are the result of zombies and undead creatures roaming the city at night. The story begins to follow Natsuno Yuuki, a young villager who is being followed by death throughout the village. The anime adaptation began broadcasting in July 2010 in Japan, and was simulcast through FUNimation on their online video website for North American markets.moreless

    When They Cry is a Japanese anime series from Studio Deen that aired from 2006 to 2007. It was based on the 2005 murder mystery manga and interactive game When the Cicadas Cry. The series was directed by Chiako Kon. It is set in a fictional small village called Hinamizawa in June 1983. Its main character is Keicchi Maebara who has moved to the village and made friends with his classmates Rena Ryugu, Mion Sonozaki, Rika Furude and Satoko Houjou. All seems well with the village and friends until the annual Watanagashi Festival rolls around. Keicchi finds out that every year someones been murdered and another has gone missing on the day of the Festival. Keicchi becomes engulfed in the mystery and slowly uncovers what is happening while his friends grow paranoid or find themselves the victims of murder as well. Certain channels in Japan dropped the show for awhile due to the real life murder case of a police chief by his teenage daughter with a hatchet.moreless
