Martin Clunes stars in comedy-drama Doc Martin, as a doctor whose truculence and tactless manner causes mayhem in a small Cornish community. Martin plays surgeon Martin Ellingham, whose glittering career comes crashing down around him when he develops a phobia which prevents him conducting operations. He makes a life changing decision to retrain as a GP, and applies for a vacant post in the sleepy Cornish hamlet of Portwenn, where he spent childhood holidays. If the patients are expecting tea and sympathy from their curmudgeonly GP they are going to be disappointed. Despite his surgical brilliance, he has no personal skills, and his understanding of humans is practically non existent. Martin is joined by a prestigious cast which includes Eileen Atkins as his Aunt Ruth. Caroline Catz stars as primary school headmistress Louisa Glasson, who Martin is attracted to - but his hopelessness with people ensures that the pat to true love will not be smooth...moreless

Welcome to the Agatha Christie's Marple guide at TV.com. Geraldine McEwan (series 1-3) and Julia McKenzie (from series 4) star in the latest TV adaption of Agatha Christie's Miss Marple stories. Following in the footsteps of Gracie Fields, Margaret Rutherford, Angela Lansbury, Helen Hayes and Joan Hickson, Geraldine McEwan brought the part of the elderly amateur sleuthwith an extraordinary knack of solving crimes back to the small screen in 2004. The series is based on the Miss Marple stories by Agatha Christie. Early episodes were adapted from Miss Marple novels and short stories, while later episodes see the character of Miss Marple inserted into other works by Agatha Christie. Opinions diverged as to McEwan's suitability to the role, while changes made to give the stories a more modern edge proved controversial. Despite this, the series proved popular and attracted large viewing figures in the UK and around the world. After the completion of filming of the third series, Geraldine McEwan decided to retire from the role, and the part of Miss Marple was awarded to Julia McKenzie. A documentary entitled Behind The Scenes: Agatha Christie's Marple was shown on ITV3 after the final episode of the first series. The documentary is available on the DVD release of the first series. Agatha Christie's Marple is co-produced by ITV Studios and Agatha Christie Ltd.moreless

The show is hosted by the comedic duo Ant & Dec, and typically runs for two series of 6-10 episodes a year. Each episode is approximately 1 hour which advert breaks. The variety show's primary focus is the chance for those in the audience to "Grab The Ads" - win the items featured in a given commercial break on ITV1 during the past week - but to pad the show out, there are many other (mostly comedy-based) sections such as "Ant and Dec Undercover", "Little Ant and Dec" and "What's Next?".
