Bootsie and Snudge was a spinoff of the British sitcom The Army Game and featured two of the long-running show's most popular characters. Private Montague 'Excused Boots' Bisley and Sergeant-Major Claude Snudge have served out their mandatory National Service, and find themselves together again, working at a swank gentleman's club, The Imperial, in Central London. Their partnership roles remained the same, with idle-dreamer Bootsie as a handyman and the bully Snudge as the head porter.

The original B&W series ran for 3 full seasons from 1960-63, with the first six episodes actually titled Bootsie and Snudge in Civvy Life. Bootsie and Snudge moved on to the eight episode Foreign Affairs series in 1964. In 1974, Bootsie and Snudge returned for a final, six episode color series that featured Bootsie as a millionaire and Snudge as his self-appointed financial advisor.moreless

Freewheelers was broadcast on the ITV network in the UK from 1968 until 1973 and was made by Southern Television. It was the brain child of producer Chris McMaster whose premise was to create a teenage version of the James Bond movies - abeit on a much tighter budget! Its principal star (on and off) was Ronald Leigh-Hunt who played British spymaster Colonel Buchan. It was he who "recruited" adventurous teenagers over the years to assist him in his fight against sundry enemy spies and mad scientists. For the first three series, Buchan's arch nemesis was von Gelb, a Nazi for whom World War Two had never ended - played by Geoffrey Toone. When Leigh-Hunt was not available for some serials, he was deputised by the likes of Eric Flynn, Ray Armstrong and Bernard Horsfall. Amongst the many teenage co-stars on the show were Tom Owen (son of the late Bill Owen and a current star in Last of the Summer Wine), Chris Chittell (now better known as Emmerdale's Eric Pollard), ex-EastEnders copper Leonard Gregory and former Doctor Who assistant Wendy Padbury who had played Zoe in the long running BBC drama serial. Freewheelers ran for eight popular series with the first three broadcast in black and white. Many episodes though have been lost over the years but a selection of the first two seasons together with entire runs of six, seven and eight still exist. The remaining colour episodes were last screened in the UK by The Children's Channel in the early nineties.moreless

Cliff! is a music variety show from the UK that replays the best moments from a British pop star's two syndicated TV series running between 1962-1971. Britain's Independent Television Network gathers clips from Sir Cliff Richard's popular TV shows during the sixties and seventies and broadcasts them for another generation to see. Viewers tuning in can find the artist performing live and in front of a studio audience the hits that made him famous, including the songs "Congratulations," "Big Ship" and "Power to All Our Friends." Richard invites celebrities each week to his show, and he performs sketch and slapstick comedy in-between numbers. Some of the episodes include singer-songwriter Olivia Newton-John, British guitarist Hank Marvin and actress Una Stubbs co-hosting the show with Richards. The program has the host dancing show tunes with special guests and playing games with the studio audience throughout the season. Famous European musicians also stop by Richard's show to promote their albums. The Rolling Stones sing a melody with Richards and Newton-John in one episode, and Pearly Gates & Segment introduce their new disco hit called "Rock The Boat" later in the season. moreless

This long-running police procedural drama showcased the activities of Detective Chief Superindentent Tom Lockhart of Scotland Yard. Lockhart had begun his television career in ATV's Murder Bag (1957/58) before moving to Crime Sheet in 1959. This third series to feature actor Raymond Francis as Lockhart followed the detective as he worked his way through over 200 cases, many of which were transmitted live.

Lockhart was supported by Detective Sergeants Harry Baxter (Eric Lander, whose character was given his own series Echo Four Two), Russell (Johnny Briggs), Perryman (Michael McStay) and Gregg (Sean Caffrey).

The show was immensely popular, with all but 25 of the episodes making the weekly ratings top twenty. When the show was taken off air in 1965 after 188 episodes, public pressure forced the producers to extend DCS Lockhart's career by another two years.moreless
