    Seconds From Disaster

    Seconds From Disaster

    National Geographic
Seconds from Disaster is an American documentary television series produced by the National Geographic Society. In each episode, the show uses a combination of CGI, re-enactments, interviews and testimonies from the people involved in the incident to accurately recreate natural and man-made disasters. Each episode focuses on one specific event, analyzing both the causes and circumstances leading up to the disaster, as well as the event itself. Re-enactments are performed without dialogue, but are explained by the narrator as they progress. Disasters ranging from aircraft and train accidents to fires, earthquakes, and even suicide-bombings are shown, with a clock appearing in the corner of the screen at the beginning of each scene to count down the titular Seconds from Disaster. At the conclusion of each episode, the clock is rewound and the disaster is shown once more, this time overlayed with the conclusions formed throughout the episode. The show finishes with a commentary about the incident itself, as well as the technological advances developed since the incident that keep people safe from a similar reoccurance.moreless
