From Emmy Award-winning producer Dick Wolf (Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), Deadline stars Platt as Wallace Benton, a Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for the New York Ledger, whose influence extends well beyond the newsroom. Conti will play the imposing, powerful and eccentric owner of the Ledger; Neuwirth will play Wallace's bright and ambitious editor; Davis will play Oliver's estranged wife and an award-winning, cutting edge journalist in her own right and Taylor will play the aggressive gossip columnist (with more files than J. Edgar Hoover) who bonds with Wallace against their mutual boss. Deadline explores the fast-paced and high pressure world of tabloid journalism. From the daily staff meetings -- a veritable round robin of who's who and what's what in New York -- to Benton's unprecedented stable of contacts and sources -- viewers will see firsthand the impact of media on society. Though critically acclaimed, NBC aired only 5 episodes nationally before the lack of an audience forced the network to pull the series. During March and April 2001, NBC aired the remaining 8 episodes on the West Coast before the reruns were picked up a year later by Bravo.moreless

Not long ago I was living in New Jersey just across the river from New York City. It was crowded, polluted, and full of crime. I loved it. But my parents wanted a better life for my sister and me - so we moved to a place so wholesome, so squeaky clean, you could only find it on TV. Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. Sure, my new home town *looks* normal enough, but look again. What's wrong with this picture? The American dream come true, right? Wrong. Nobody believes me, but this is the center of weirdness for the entire planet. Eerie, Indiana. My home sweet home. Still don't believe me? You will." Boomtown depicts crime in Los Angeles from the very different perspectives of the four groups most intimately involved in the pursuit of justice -- the police, the citizens, the politicians, and the media -- and artfully illustrates how they interconnect. Boomtown features Joel Stevens (Donnie Wahlberg, Band of Brothers) as an emotionally drained, dedicated detective; "Fearless" Bobby Smith (Mykelti Williamson, Forrest Gump) as Stevens' easy-going, daredevil partner; David McNorris (Neal McDonough, Minority Report) as a politically savvy and ambitious Deputy D.A.; Ray Hechler (Gary Basaraba, Brooklyn South) as a veteran patrol officer, and Tom Turcotte (Jason Gedrick, The Last Don) as a beat cop struggling to prove himself. Nina Garbiras (The $treet) stars as Andrea Little, a tough metro reporter whose private life is less than perfect and Teresa Ortiz (Lana Parrilla, Spin City) as a compassionate paramedic who has already seen too much suffering. Welcome to the Ellery Queen guide at tv.com. This is one of the classic TV whodunits -- with a twist. The show's format was such that the audience would see everything that the show's namesake character would see, including all of the clues, and then, right before the final scene started (you know... the one where all the suspects are brought into the room for the "YOU... killed the victim. And you did it because..." scene, the star (Ellery Queen, of course) would turn to the TV audience and state "Okay, you've got all the clues. Do you know who did it? I think I do. Can you guess?" And the audience had the chance to be part of the show. Quite unique and half the fun. For books and more information on this character, check out http://www.elleryqueen.com.
