Austin City Limits has established a reputation for showcasing great live musical performances. The show's studio allows for intimate and engaging performances by independent, mainstream, critically acclaimed, and popular artists. The show was originally created to display the emerging talents of the alternative country music scene in Austin, TX in the 1970s. Soon, however, the show branched out to include all types of music: alt country, pop rock, bluegrass and zydeco are just a few. Many television historians attribute MTV, CMT and VH1'a success to the contributions of this groundbreaking musical series. On Wednesday, November 12th, 2003; President Bush presented ACL with the National Medal of the Arts. ACL was the first television show (ever) to win the award.moreless

Ken Burns: Jazz is an acclaimed 2001 television documentary miniseries produced for the venerated PBS network. A sumptuously rich bite of jazz American pie. Ken Burns succeeds in documenting this impossibly large subject. Clocking in at just less than 20 hours, the series is an exhaustive and complete overview of Jazz in the 20th Century. Never dull, this set is a sophisticated and engaging exploration of the evolution of Jazz from its roots to the present. This documentary is a social history of the musicians who created one of America's greatest contributions to art and it covers the years 1900 to around 1960. The emphasis here is on the mainstream artists of the trade. Burns unravels his story in a chronological and quite accessible way that is not over the head of the neophyte nor beneath the interest of the educated jazz connoisseur. The Wiggles

The Wiggles are a children's band from Australia. When Greg, Anthony, Murray and Jeff aren't singing and dancing, they're spending time with their friends. About Production Codes: The regular seasons were painstakingly collected from the various TV guides and correlated with actual viewings of the show over a period of several months. Season 5 codes come from a media marketing site. They all follow the 3-digit format, except for videos which are originally listed by their Roadshow / HIT Entertainment VHS or DVD catalog number. Character Profiles The Wiggles Greg Wiggle Greg is the lead singer of The Wiggles, and if you just hear one singer in your favorite Wiggles song, he is the guy. His hobby is doing magic tricks. He can make things disappear, but it'd be once in blue moon if he ever succeeds in pulling a rabbit out of his hat! Instrument = Lead Vocalist. He also plays some guitar and keyboard. Shirt Color = Yellow Sam Wiggle In the Wiggle and Learn series, Sam is the new Yellow Wiggle. People might recognize him as a Wiggly Dancer and Professor Singalottasonga in the earlier series. Instrument = Lead Vocals, and sometimes the Trumpet. Shirt Color = Yellow Anthony Wiggle Anthony is one hungry Wiggle. His hobbies include eating and generally being silly. His appetite can get in the way at times. He usually sings and dances with Greg. In the newer seasons, he also loves to use a low bass voice and to roll his r's. Instrument = Drums. He also plays some guitar and some other instruments. Shirt Color = Blue Murray Wiggle The calmest guy in the band, Murray enjoys playing his red guitar, and is quite impressed by Greg and his magic. One time he even used Greg's magic properly! Murray also loves to speculate on different things in life, like what if we didn't have elbows. He also loves to play well known guitar riffs. Instrument = Red Guitar. Shirt Color = Red Jeff Wiggle Jeff is full of energy when he's awake, but he tends to fall asleep on the spot, and it takes the entire audience to shout "Wake up, Jeff!" It can be hard to keep him awake. In fact, he spent a whole episode asleep once! He may be the goofiest of them all. Instrument = Keyboard and Accordion. Shirt Color = Purple Supporting Characters Captain Feathersword Often considered the Fifth Wiggle, Captain Feathersword is a friendly pirate who has a sword made out of feathers so he can tickle people. He's best known for doing improvisational acts and voices, thanks in part to his Magic Buttons on his vest. He greets everyone with "Ahoy There, Me Hearties!" Dorothy the Dinosaur Dorothy is a human-sized dinosaur who wears a floppy white hat, and loves daydreaming in her rose garden. She has loved roses since she was a young child. And not just to smell them, but she uses them to make rosy treats! She is also the only female among the main Wiggles group, and has an infectious giggle. In Australia, she even has her own TV show! Wags the Dog Wags is a cute dog about the size of the Wiggles. In the early seasons, he only speaks to the audience, and woofs for Captain Feathersword and the other Wiggles. But in the later seasons, he talks like everyone else. He's a very resourceful inventor, and he also likes to goof on Captain Feathersword, refusing to just obey. He's also in charge of the three little pups known as the Wagettes. Henry the Octopus Henry leads his own underwater band. He joins the Wiggles in a bunch of different songs and dances. In the early seasons, he is both a puppet and a mascot. His favorite word is "Bree-Boop!" which is like Aloha in Octopus language. Officer Beaples: She's dressed like a Keystone Kop, and mostly mimes. Wiggle Dancers: The men and women who dance around in marching band uniforms. They start appearing in the musical numbers from the Lights, Camera, Action, Wiggles season. Friendly Pirate Crew: The men and women who dance around and help Captain Feathersword during one of his featured skits. Many of the folks are Wiggle Dancers, but some are dedicated crew members representing a worldwide populace. Child Dancers: Since the show is all about the kids, many of the videos feature children dancing and participating in activities. About Playhouse Disney: This is the morning segment of the Disney Channel in the USA that's geared for pre-schoolers and toddlers. Because Disney is privately owned, they only air commercials for their own Disney shows and products, but during the Playhouse Disney segments, The Wiggles shows run about 25 minutes straight with NO commercials! Disney used to run the Wiggles at all sorts of morning hours seven days a week. In its prime, the Wiggles should show up from two to three episodes a day: 6am for Wiggly TV (series 1-2), 10am for The Wiggles Show and Lights, Camera, Action episodes (series 3-4), and 7am for the Breakfast with Bear segment. In series 5, The Wiggles ran at 7am weekdays, and a different time on weekend mornings. In series 6, the Wiggles ran at 7am weekdays and weekends but in January 5, 2009, the Wiggles ran at 11:30am weekdays and 7am weekends. Reruns can be found on PBS Sprout. Submission Guidelines Although the Wiggles guide may seem fairly complete, there are always plenty of fun things to add. Here's generally where things are categorized. Notes: - List of DVD Bonus Features, including Lights Camera Action Wiggles episodes. - Official original release dates for the Australia videos, US videos, and companion albums. Awards won. Differences between Australia and US version. - Novelties and debuts (set design, wardrobe, song, dancer) - consider chronological or Disney TV series order. - One-shot appearances by non-TV industry guests, lists of children and families, lists of dancers. - Family and Friends - whenever the Wiggles bring in their non-cast/crew family members (e.g. Anthony's wife, kids, or dogs), and friends into their videos and features. - Debuts in Australia, UK, or Canada if traceable. Trivia: - On-screen song and guest debuts by name, such as Murray introducing Clare, or Anthony introducing Alfonso. - Instrument details. Allusions: Passing references to pop culture icons like Elvis or The Beatles. For example, Racing to the Rainbow has a flurry of Elvis references, and the cover of Let's Eat is designed to look like Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts band. Australian regional sayings and jargon like "slippery dip", but do not add common ones like "G'day" or "Beauty, mate" or "barbie" Song arrangements not directly explained (e.g. Hands on My Head). Cast: If you are adding voiceovers for any of the mascots, for example: Wags the Dog (Mic Conway) Dorothy the Dinosaur (Carolyn Ferrie, Jacqueline Field, Zoe Velez) Henry the Octopus (Jeff Fatt, Paul Paddick, Mario Martinez-Diaz), please confirm they are the correct person in the season, and that the mascot actually said something in that episode. I count the dancers as Recurring Stars / Guest Stars if: 1) They are credited at the end of the show. 2) They participated in the skits, intros, or closers. I do not count the dancer if all they did was appear in the pre-produced video footage. DO NOT ADD - Nitpicking any time the Wiggles don't really play their instruments or lip sync. It is a given that sometimes they are more concerned about dancing and showing the actions rather than making an acoustically accurate performance. Save those goofs for only the major ones like showing two different guitars for the same concert song. - Self-evident crew credits like Music: The Wiggles (Band) or Creator: The Wiggles (Band) or Opening Performance: The Wiggles (Band). Look for explicitly listed credits like Musical Arrangement: Anthony Field instead. - Cast roles that should be listed in the credits (e.g. Kamahl guest stars as himself). - Special Guest Stars - add them as regular Guest Stars. - Dancers on replayed video footage. They did not participate in the video. - This is the second/third/fourth visit by guest star. It is self-evident from the credits that guests appear multiple times. - Anything from Wiggles Wikia. That site has way much too unverified information. - Any nitpicks on miscellaneous Wiggles songs that aren't featured in the TV series or videos. - Explanations on nursery rhymes or common pop culture. Common questions about the guide Q: What is with the titles for Lights, Camera, Action, Wiggles? How come they don't correspond to my videos? A: In the original Australian broadcast, the show was 54 episodes of 11 minutes each, and their titles were just Episode 1 to Episode 54. When it was broadcast in the US for Disney, they mainly combined 2 episodes into one, and posted their own 3 digit production numbers. There are NO official titles for the US version. The titles here are arbitrarily written by the editor to best reflect the theme of the combined episode. Q: Can I add a Wiggles video to a guide? A: Yes, Just let me know in advance and I can give you an episode number of where it should fit in. I am not accepting 2-pack releases as new entries, but you can make a Note of such things if they are important. Q: Why is Series Two listed first? A: Although Series Two was produced after Series One, it aired on Disney channel before Series One. Q: What about Wiggly Waffle? A: Wiggly Waffle, while it has new videos, is not an actual TV series, but The Wiggles hosting a block of various shows. If you want Wiggly Waffle on tv.com, you could send in a request for a new show, but my opinion is that it is a very difficult series to maintain. Q: What about other Wiggles produced shows? ZOOM is a show targeted at ages 6-11 but many people older than that watch it too! The show makes ZOOM-dos, CafeZooms, Znacks, ZOOMsci's, and more that you can do at home! They are time friendly and kid friendly! Many people watch the show because it is made by kids and for kids. Being shown on PBS Kids (Public Broadcasting Service), the show is nonviolent and is played without commercial interruption.

Each season of ZOOM consisted of seven average kids (3 boys, 4 girls)called ZOOMers. The ideas for activities for the show were sent in by the viewers either by e-mail or snail-mail (Z-O-O-M box 350, Boston Mass.) At the beginning of each season, some of the old cast members would leave and be replaced with new kids, only two cast members stayed more than two seasons (Caroline, seasons 2-5, and Shing Ying, seasons 5-7).

Keeping Score is a musical documentary TV series developed by PBS in conjunction with the San Francisco Symphony that follows host Michael Tilson Thomas as he explores the greats of classical music composers and the inspirations for some of their better-known masterpieces. When Romantic French composer Hector Berlioz wrote his Symphonie fantastique, it had been inspired by more than just a desire to create a beautiful new work of music but instead was fierce and dedicated love letter to a beautiful actress. Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT) throws out the question and hunts down his answer of how Aaron Copland, a Brooklyn Jew, managed to blend the unique sounds of jazz, folk, and hymns to create a sound that to this day is known as being the sound of the 20th Century America. With the original score and its markings, MTT tries to recreate the same journey of Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky as the Russian composer rehearsed, fine-tuned, and premiered his Fourth Symphony just as the San Francisco Symphony mirrors the preparation. Celtic Woman

Celtic Woman, an all-female musical ensemble, was conceived and created by Sharon Browne. The idea behind the group was to fuse Celtic music with and dance with the structure of a popular female music groups like the Spice Girls and Pussycat Dolls. With over 6 million albums sold, Celtic Woman has achieved success rarely found Celtic musicians. The group was taped for PBS on September 15, 2004 in Dublin, Ireland. After this first-ever American performance for Celtic Woman, their album reached #1 on Billboard's world music chart. The special, which is credited for immensely growing the group's popularity, was taped in front of a sold-out audience. After the success of the first taping, Celtic Woman taped a second special for PBS filmed in County Meath, Ireland following the release of their Celtic Woman: A New Journey album.
