    Soul Food

    Soul Food

    Showtime (ended 2004)
A talented, eclectic ensemble cast reunites the Joseph family in the hour-long family drama, Soul Food, an Edmonds Entertainment/State Street Pictures production in association with Paramount Network Television for Showtime. Soul Food was the first original Showtime series to receive a second season order from the network.

Based on the critically acclaimed film from writer/director George Tillman, Jr. the series Soul Food takes an honest, touching look at tradition and family life through the trials and tribulations of a tight-knit African-American family living in Chicago. Without missing a beat, Soul Food picks up where the 1997 film left off – with a family trying to do the best it can with what life has dealt them, while facing day to day turmoil that seems to permeate their lives.

Although the Joseph's beloved matriarch, Mama Joe (Irma P. Hall, Soul Food), has passed away, she is still there in spirit and her words of wisdom resound through her grandson Ahmad (Aaron Meeks), who is having a hard time adapting to his new role as "man of the house" since his parent's separation. Maxine (Vanessa Williams, Melrose Place) and Kenny (Rockmond Dunbar) found that time apart was the only palpable solution to their problems – at least for the time being. And while Lem (Darrin Dewitt Henson) and Bird (Malinda Williams, High School High) do their best to help reunite the couple, it soon becomes clear to the entire family that Maxine and Kenny just need some time on their own.

Teri (Nicole Ari Parker, Loving Jezebel) is wooed by her old company, Greene & Norris, and offered a partnership and chance to head the firm's labor department. However, this opportunity worries Damon (Boris Kodjoe, Love & Basketball) and Maxine who feel that Teri's panic attacks aren't yet a thing of the past. And although the family faces difficult hurdles, they always find their way back to the traditional Sunday dinner that allows them to share each other's company and recognize that they truly mean the world to each other.moreless

    Great Teacher Onizuka

    Great Teacher Onizuka

    Showtime (ended 2004)
Meet Eikichi Onizuka, a 22 year old virgin, college karate champ, and ex-biker( to follow is high school and biker adventures read Tohru Fujisawa's Bad Company and Shounan Junai Gumi manga) who has one goal only: To be the Greatest High School Teacher in the World! Unfortunately, the only teaching job available is at Holy Forest Academy. There he uses his street smarts to deal with colleagues and students alike. GTO is the runaway hit from Japan based of Tohru Fujisawa's hugely popular manga which sold over 37,000,000 copies world wide(distributed by Tokyo Pop) The finale of the live action version of GTO was the most watched TV program ever in Japan. Cast of Characters: Eikichi Onizuka Eikichi Onizuka aka. Great Teacher Onizuka is a crude, foul mouthed, 22-year-old teacher with a hair-trigger temper. Onizuka isn't much of a teacher as far as school subjects go, but he is a very good teacher in "life", and while he teaches his students he manages to learn quite a few things as well, but Onizuka does have his good sides, most of the time he's a goof-ball but he can also be very heart-warming. Azusa Fuyutsuki A female teacher who started teaching the same day Onizuka did. Onizuka saves Fuyutsuki-chan from everything: from nasty rumors to stalking perverted teachers watching her every move. Onizuka also encourages her throughout the series to be a better teacher, but she also helps Onizuka get through some major personal issues. Ryuji Danma Onizuka's best friend since Jr. High. He and Onizuka used to be exactly alike (goofy, fun, always getting in trouble) but has matured alot since, now he runs/works in a mechanic shop of sorts. He is always pulling Onizuka out of mess after mess. Ryoko Sakurai The head of Holy Forest Academy. She gave Onizuka a chance to be a teacher there, and sometimes covers for his mistakes. She often poses as a lunch-lady or student storeowner to study human behavior Hiroshi Uchiyamada Vice Principal Uchiyamada quickly grew a hatred for Onizuka and his unconvential teaching methods. He is also desperate to get Onizuka fired but with Ms. Sakurai watching, that may prove difficult. His life pretty much sucks, too (his wife's cheating on him, his daughter hates him, and the family dog attacks him). He resents Onizuka for EVERYTHING bad in his life, but he occasionally has moments of clarity where he realizes it's his own fault... Noburu Yoshikawa The class wimp. Short for his age, and always been teased about it. When Onizuka met him, he was in a suicidal mood, but Onizuka saved him and taught him how to stand up to people. His hobbies include anime and video games and other geek-related things. **** Kikuchi Kikuchi is Onizuka's number one source of information. He was the leader of class pranks in 2-4, and also the first to resign, once he was convinced that Oni is a good teacher. Now he is Onizuka's assistant in his schemes, and digs him out of holes. He is also very good friends with Urumi, the one person who understands him. Kunio Murai Was the most resistant member of the main group of boys to accept Onizuka, because he has a little mommy complex and was afraid Onizuka would steal his mommy away. Murai will do anything for his mom(including bunjee jumping off a bridge). He is somewhat of an immature brat, but we all love him anyway, him and his possie (Fujiyoshi and Kusano). Miyabi Aizawa One of the head "antagonists" of the series. She is determined to get Onizuka fired at any costs. She slowly loses her allies throughout the series, but she hasn't given up yet...she also has a lot of "problems" in her life. Her major problem is that her classmates who were all fighting for her revenge don't even know what their teacher actually did to her...She's another confusing character. Tomoko Nomura She used to be "friends" with Miyabi and Urumi in elementary school and jr. high (her relationship with Miyabi was that she was Miyabi's slave, and she was Urumi's "pet" . ). She has unusually large breasts and is always teased about it (and the fact that she's stupid). When Onizuka finds her...he turns her into an star and makes her world famous! Urumi Kanzaki She's a genius with an IQ of over 200, and has never quite been able to fit in. When Onizuka finds her, she is a VERY uncooperative **** he soon finds out what made her that way, and, of course, turns her around. Through the first half of the series, or so, she has a "secret". How sad. Oh, and she has one brown eye and one blue eye. She's concider by many fans as there favorite character. Anko Uehara One of the main girls who had been teasing Yoshikawa. But later in the series the tables turn... She is probably the most immature girl of the entire classroom (except maybe Toroko...), and after she's cured of her bullyish-nature, she becomes one of the cuter, sweeter characters. Especially when she's around Yoshikawa.moreless
