The Borgias is a fictional drama series from France and Germany based on the power struggles inside the Vatican during the 15th century. In a world of bloody wars and a huge division between the rich and the poor, the Vatican in Rome becomes the neutral ground. Rodrigo Borgia (John Doman) sees an opportunity to become the Pope and lead the world in solving its difference. Borgia soon decides that this is an opportunity that he'll do anything to get. The only problem is, the man is a widower with four promiscuous children, who pose a political problem in capturing the Holy See. The series follows Borgia's struggles among the Cardinals, with each episode bringing the determined man closer to his goal. Borgia himself is not a celibate man and his acts of violence, murder and betrayal threaten to tear his family apart. By mid-season, the Cardinals give in, and Borgia becomes Pope Alexander VI. He soon discovers that leading the Roman Catholic Church is more dangerous than he thought it would be.moreless

Family Business on Showtime has not been renewed for a fifth season and to date, no repeats are being aired.

Debuting on February 21, 2003, the fourth and final season began on April 21, 2006. This Showtime series took us behind the scenes of LA's other film industry! Family Business it was a story with porn, not just porn with a story.

You really need to see this series before you make any judgements about the adult film business these days, especially when run by intelligent, responsible people who are admittedly making a buck in a non-mainstream way, but are neither exploiting anyone nor allowing anyone else to do it.

Family Business is available on DVD.

Meet Adam Glasser, aka "Seymore Butts" as he produces, distributes and sometimes stars in some very controversial adult films. Adam is educated, eloquent and surprisingly ethical/moral.

Lila Glasser, Adam's proud mother is also the business bookkeeper. A typical mom, she's not just there for her son's business, but his young son, Brady.

This isn't a typical family business, but these are members of a pretty typical family. Well, except maybe for cousin Stevie. He joined the business in the late 1990's. Stevie wanders through the shows with his heart in the right place, constantly trying to accomplish any task, but barely staying out of his own way, yet often stumbling into success.

Kurt Vonnegut's Monkey House is a 1991 series from Showtime that featured Vonnegut himself hosting televised versions of some of his stories. The stories first appeared in his book Welcome To The Monkey House. In particular, the film features recreations of the stories Next Door, The Euphio Question, and All The King's Horses. Typical of Vonnegut's other works, the stories are darkly humorous and filled with quirky characters. The science fiction undertones are reminiscent of The Twilight Zone and Ray Bradbury's works. For instance, the title story involves an overpopulated, futuristic world in which the world government is trying to curb the population through optional suicide parlors and mandatory birth control that takes the pleasure out of sex. All of Vonnegut's writings involve the lone rational mind trying to survive a senseless and bureaucratic world, and this collection captures some of his most peculiar and creepy expressions of those very themes. moreless

Meet Eikichi Onizuka, a 22 year old virgin, college karate champ, and ex-biker( to follow is high school and biker adventures read Tohru Fujisawa's Bad Company and Shounan Junai Gumi manga) who has one goal only: To be the Greatest High School Teacher in the World! Unfortunately, the only teaching job available is at Holy Forest Academy. There he uses his street smarts to deal with colleagues and students alike. GTO is the runaway hit from Japan based of Tohru Fujisawa's hugely popular manga which sold over 37,000,000 copies world wide(distributed by Tokyo Pop) The finale of the live action version of GTO was the most watched TV program ever in Japan. Cast of Characters: Eikichi Onizuka Eikichi Onizuka aka. Great Teacher Onizuka is a crude, foul mouthed, 22-year-old teacher with a hair-trigger temper. Onizuka isn't much of a teacher as far as school subjects go, but he is a very good teacher in "life", and while he teaches his students he manages to learn quite a few things as well, but Onizuka does have his good sides, most of the time he's a goof-ball but he can also be very heart-warming. Azusa Fuyutsuki A female teacher who started teaching the same day Onizuka did. Onizuka saves Fuyutsuki-chan from everything: from nasty rumors to stalking perverted teachers watching her every move. Onizuka also encourages her throughout the series to be a better teacher, but she also helps Onizuka get through some major personal issues. Ryuji Danma Onizuka's best friend since Jr. High. He and Onizuka used to be exactly alike (goofy, fun, always getting in trouble) but has matured alot since, now he runs/works in a mechanic shop of sorts. He is always pulling Onizuka out of mess after mess. Ryoko Sakurai The head of Holy Forest Academy. She gave Onizuka a chance to be a teacher there, and sometimes covers for his mistakes. She often poses as a lunch-lady or student storeowner to study human behavior Hiroshi Uchiyamada Vice Principal Uchiyamada quickly grew a hatred for Onizuka and his unconvential teaching methods. He is also desperate to get Onizuka fired but with Ms. Sakurai watching, that may prove difficult. His life pretty much sucks, too (his wife's cheating on him, his daughter hates him, and the family dog attacks him). He resents Onizuka for EVERYTHING bad in his life, but he occasionally has moments of clarity where he realizes it's his own fault... Noburu Yoshikawa The class wimp. Short for his age, and always been teased about it. When Onizuka met him, he was in a suicidal mood, but Onizuka saved him and taught him how to stand up to people. His hobbies include anime and video games and other geek-related things. **** Kikuchi Kikuchi is Onizuka's number one source of information. He was the leader of class pranks in 2-4, and also the first to resign, once he was convinced that Oni is a good teacher. Now he is Onizuka's assistant in his schemes, and digs him out of holes. He is also very good friends with Urumi, the one person who understands him. Kunio Murai Was the most resistant member of the main group of boys to accept Onizuka, because he has a little mommy complex and was afraid Onizuka would steal his mommy away. Murai will do anything for his mom(including bunjee jumping off a bridge). He is somewhat of an immature brat, but we all love him anyway, him and his possie (Fujiyoshi and Kusano). Miyabi Aizawa One of the head "antagonists" of the series. She is determined to get Onizuka fired at any costs. She slowly loses her allies throughout the series, but she hasn't given up yet...she also has a lot of "problems" in her life. Her major problem is that her classmates who were all fighting for her revenge don't even know what their teacher actually did to her...She's another confusing character. Tomoko Nomura She used to be "friends" with Miyabi and Urumi in elementary school and jr. high (her relationship with Miyabi was that she was Miyabi's slave, and she was Urumi's "pet" . ). She has unusually large breasts and is always teased about it (and the fact that she's stupid). When Onizuka finds her...he turns her into an star and makes her world famous! Urumi Kanzaki She's a genius with an IQ of over 200, and has never quite been able to fit in. When Onizuka finds her, she is a VERY uncooperative **** he soon finds out what made her that way, and, of course, turns her around. Through the first half of the series, or so, she has a "secret". How sad. Oh, and she has one brown eye and one blue eye. She's concider by many fans as there favorite character. Anko Uehara One of the main girls who had been teasing Yoshikawa. But later in the series the tables turn... She is probably the most immature girl of the entire classroom (except maybe Toroko...), and after she's cured of her bullyish-nature, she becomes one of the cuter, sweeter characters. Especially when she's around Yoshikawa.moreless

It's Garry Shandling's Show is one of the first original programs created by the fledgling Showtime network in the mid-80's to compete with original HBO comedies like Not Necessarily the News. It lasted about 70 episodes. Slightly racier and self-effacing interpretation of several traditional comedy formats including sitcom and talk show, the program was the first to star stand-up comedian Garry Shandling. The show introduced much of the country to Shandling and paved the way for his more successful run as late-night talk show host Larry Sanders on HBO's, The Larry Sanders Show. Tales of the City (and it's sequels) follow the soap-operaish lives of the people living in 1970's and 1980's San Francisco, and are based on Armistead Maupin's novels. The show centers around Anna Madrigal, the eccentric landlady at 28 Barbary Lane (who welcomes her tenants by taping homegrown joints above their doors), her tenants and the others implicated in their lives. Tenants include Mary Ann Singleton, a naive midwesterner who moves to California to start a new life; Mona Ramsey, a **** who is unknowingly Mrs. Madrigal's daughter; Michael "Mouse" Tolliver, a gay Floridan who moved to California to avoid letting his parents find out he was gay and Brian Hawkins, a horny straight guy trapped in a gay city... People involved in their lives are Beachamp Day, Mary Ann's boss, and his wife DeDe; Edgar Halcyon, Anna's boyfriend, and his wife, Frannie who are DeDe's parents; Dr. Jon Fielding, the on-again-off-again boyfriend of Michael's; Mother Mucka, a whorehouse madame who is mother to Mrs. Madrigal; and Connie Bradshaw, a school friend of Mary Ann's; among others. The show was originally produced for Britain's Channel 4 & USA's PBS. When PBS aired it in 1994, it broke their ratings records, and in 1998, Showtime and Channel 4 produced the follow-up, More Tales of the City. The latest series, Further Tales of the City aired on Showtime in May 2001 -- but was not aired in the UK. The other 3 "Tales" novels, Babycakes, Significant Others, and Sure of You, have not been adapted for TV as of yet (Just for the record, "Babycakes" is not in any way related to the film that starred Ricki Lake). According to Maupin's official site, a script for "Babycakes" is being developed as a two-hour telefilm -- though it's still in the developmental stage at this point. There's been speculation about the departure of three of the leads from the original series, which was cleared up on Armistead Maupin's official site... Chloe Webb (Mona) asked for more money than they were offering, Paul Gross (Brian) was filming the TV series "Due South," and was therefore unavailable. Marcus D'Amico expressed "ambivalence" about reprising his role as Michael, so they recast the part. If anybody has any information they would like to contribute to this guide, please feel free to! If you know of the European airdates, they would be greatly appreciated. Although many of the actors were credited as "stars," many only appeared in an episode or two, so I've tried to track down which episodes and list them as "guest stars."moreless
