From the production team of The Joe Schmo Show, the reality show where only "Joe" and "Jane" Schmo didn't know was fake, comes Invasion Iowa. Invasion Iowa aired over four nights on Spike TV beginning on March 29, 2005 and ended with a two-hour finale on April Fool's Day. The show dupes residents of the small-town of Riverside, Iowa citizens into believing they've been hired on as crew for a science-fiction / time-travel film starring William Shatner. What they don't know is that they entire stunt has been planned out for over a year and there's no real movie being filmed in order to parody Hollywood and not be mean-spirited toward Riverside. In the end, everyone was let in on the joke and Riverside receives $100,000.

The phony Invasion Iowa movie has cast and crew that are both residents of Riverside and hired actors and actresses. Hired onto the show to play outrageous characters are:

Ernie Grunwald - He's playing Steve, Bill's Spiritual Advisor. He's the guy who can calm down William Shatner when needed. The actor is fairly well-established in TV shows and movies, having played the regular character Claude on The High Life and with bit roles in movies such as Men in Black II.

Garz Chan - She's Max, the Studio Executive. She's the power woman with the money and therefore gets respect, even though she's terribly annoying.

Desi Lydic - She plays Gryffyn, the stereotype of a Hollywood actress. She's full of herself and embodies just about every other idea people have about overpaid actresses.

Michael J. O'Hara - He's Herb, The Assistant. He's hoping that Invasion Iowa could be a springboard to bigger things, but he's basically incompetent. He's eager to please, but his ideas are generally lame. The actor previously had a recurring role on the show Run of the House.

Kirk Ward - As Tiny the Body Double, Bill raised him as a sort of child. He has a tendency to act rather crazy, but Bill doesn't mind. The actor has previously played roles on shows such as Malcolm in the Middle and movies such as Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.moreless

Crook and Chase was the original name of the popular television series that focused primarily on the country music scene in Nashville, Tennessee. It was hosted by television personalities, Lorianne Cook and Charlie Chase. Crook and Chase began airing on April 1, 1986 on the Nashville Network. Every week, the hour-long program would explore what songs and artists were enjoying the most popularity on the country music charts. Crook and Chase also regularly featured musicians on the show, who would talk with the hosts and often perform their chart-topping hits. They also speculated about forthcoming albums and new artists who were making a splash in Nashville. The tone of the show was generally very light and positive, and artists were seldom asked difficult questions. Though many critics dismissed Crook and Chase as a lightweight copy of mainstream shows such as Entertainment Tonight and Extra, the program remained a hit with country audiences throughout its long run. moreless

Welcome to the Zilch & Zero guide at TV.com. The newly rebranded Spike TV has ordered a pilot for "Zilch & Zero," a Flash animated series from John Leguizamo. The project, a co-production by Spike TV and Rebel Films, will be written by Geoffrey Whalen and Scott McCauley with Leguizamo executive producing. Here's how the channel describes the series (via press release), which is being targeted for the network's upcoming animation block: "Zilch and Zero are two best friends and comedic slackers who work in a video store and spend their day critiquing the latest films to come out on DVD. These characters are cinephiles and are consumed by movie trivia -- including anything and everything involved with the production of the flick -- right down to the dates, directors and even mishaps which occur on set. And, they love nothing more then reciting their favorite, over-the-top movie lines. ZILCH & ZERO is set in a small movie/video rental shop and features the two best friends in their daily life, which is full of hilarious interactions with friends and customers."moreless
