The New Leave It to Beaver

The New Leave It to Beaver

    TBS (ended 1989)
The New Leave It to Beaver was a sequel to the 1950s sitcom, Leave it to Beaver. The premise had Wally Cleaver and younger brother, Theodore "Beaver" Cleaver all grown up, with families of their own. Theodore is divorced, but his sons, Kip and Oliver live with him and they all live with his widow mom, June Cleaver in the suburbs. Wally lives next door with his wife and daughter Kelly and, later, son Kevin joins the brood. Eddie Haskell is still around, and he has a family as well, but Eddie will always be Eddie, and his two sons are no different. The New Leave It To Beaver began with the 1983 CBS film Still The Beaver, and was picked up in 1984 as a Disney Channel series with the same name. But it only lasted one season and was then picked up by TBS in 1986 and renamed The New Leave It To Beaver. The series lasted until 1989 and 101 total episodes were made. TBS (ended 1998)
B't X is the story of one young man's battle against insurmountable odds. When Teppei's brother (a brilliant robotics scientist) is kidnapped, he follows the kidnappers to find out that they belong to a secret organization called the Machine Empire! He teams up with a B't named X, a living robotic flying horse. Together they strive to get to the center of the Machine Empire where Teppei's brother Kotaro is being held prisoner!

B't X (pronounced Beat X) began as a manga created by Masami Kurumada, and was adapted to anime by Tokyo Movie Shinsha as a 25 episode TV series which followed the manga storyline pretty closely. It was broadcasted on Japan's TBS station from April 6th to September 21st, 1996.

It was exported to several other countries, and spawned a line of videos and toys. Unfortunately the series wasn't as popular as anticipated, but it was popular enough to allow for a second season, in the form of an OVA series called B't X Neo. Neo picks up right where the storyline left off. The first episode of Neo went on sale January 21st, 1998.moreless

    He's A Lady

    He's A Lady

    TBS (ended 2004)
TBS takes eleven men on a wild adventure as they walk a mile in a woman's shoes when they undergo a complete feminine makeover in this new, original reality series. Eleven men are temporarily leaving behind their wives and girlfriends for a chance to win a $250,000 cash prize. The guys think they're going to be on a show called "All American Man," competing in grueling challenges. But the catch is more than they ever imagined: The guys will actually be transformed and given the chance to see what life is like as a lady, with one man winning a huge prize in the end. Each week, the competitors learn something new about what it's like to live as a lady, from dealing with bras and jewelry to bonding with real women in typically all-female activities. They are then judged by a celebrity panel including Morgan Fairchild, John Salley, and Debbie Matenopoulos. The challenges ultimately lead up to a beauty pageant, where the competition boils down to the quarter-million-dollar question: "What, as a lady, have you learned about being a man?" It is then up to the judges, who decide which man has become the ultimate "lady"!moreless

    Ping-Pong Club

    Ping-Pong Club

    TBS (ended 1995)
Often considered the Japanese version of South Park but crudely drawn more like Beavis and Butthead, this irreverent comedy contains many explicit scenes inappropriate for television. You have been warned!. Takeda just wants to play ping pong for his junior high, but in order to meet the minimum standard of six players, he's ended up the leader of a bunch of extremely sick perverts, a guy with horrible body odor, and a guy who's popular with the ladies. The Ping Pong Club follows their silly escapades as they struggle to keep their clubroom intact, deal with crazy teachers, and their pretty but bossy student manager, Kyoko. Also known as: IKE! INA-CHUU TAKKYUUBU Let's Go! Inachu Ping Pong Club Number of Episodes: 26 Aired: April 5, 1995 - September 27, 1995 in Japan Rating: TV-MA, 16up (crude adult situations, cartoon nudity (both female and male), language) Animation Studio: Grouper Productions Production Company: Kitty Film (same folks who did Ranma 1/2), Tokyo Broadcast System (TBS) English dub: Software Sculptors Please note: This guide consists of about 47 episodes that fit in 26 half-hour parts. They will be listed by their half-hour episodes in this guide, and the production code will show the episode number of the 10-15 minute segment as posted on the DVD and during broadcast. DVD Volumes 1. Make way for the ping pong club (ep 1-4) 2. Love & Comedy, Die Die Die (ep 5-8) 3. Goes Too Far (ep 9-12) 4. Loser's Club (and Goes for Broke) (ep 13-19) 5. Rots in Hell (and Assorted Shorts) (ep 20-26) Contributing to this guide Do not detail the explicit adult content. For example, if there's an S&M scene, just say "S&M scene" and not what they did in it or who did what to whom. Exceptions may be made when it is essential to the plot. Do not submit Trivia and Allusions for adult products and references. You may submit edits to euphemize existing material that doesn't mess up the context. Quotes may be submitted if they are censored per TV.com standards. It'll be understood that they aired uncensored in Japan and on Video. Many of the voice actors are working under silly alias names. Until the alias had been made public by the voice actor or community, I ask that you respect their privacy. Please PM the editor if you have any questions.moreless

    Down to Earth (1984)

    Down to Earth (1984)

    TBS (ended 1987)
The premise of this fondly remembered sitcom from the '80s, which ran on WTBS (before they dropped the "W") was best summed up with some words from the theme song... "Back in the days of Valentino, we know a maid named Ethyl was so bright and alive. But she was struck down by a trolley, golly; said goodbye in nineteen-twenty-and-five. Ethyl in Heaven awaited patiently to earn her wings and be an angel fancy free. Sixty years later the opportunity to help a family came. Back down to Earth to teach the Prestons lessons -- Richard, Lissy, Dwayne, and J.J. too..." In an attempt to earn her wings, Ethel is placed with the Preston family, where she acts as maid. Richard Preston, a widower and realtor, is the head of the clan. Duane is the class-conscious teenage son and Lissy is the teenage daughter. The youngest of the Preston clan is J.J., the only one who knows that Ethel is an angel, since she was the answer to his prayers. Over the years, there were a number of cast changes. First and foremost was ditzy next-door-neighbor Candy Carlyse, who popped in from time to time for comic relief. Initially, angel Mr. Divine watched over Ethel's shenanigans; but soon Mr. Lester Luster replaced him (though he was quickly dropped from the series too). They were later replaced with Jake, Ethel's former fiance (whom she left at the alter), a con-man who wound up turning his life around and becoming an angel. After Jake was dropped from the series, wacky Stanley McCloud watched over Ethel. It's also notable that this is the second series in which Dick Sergeant replaced a main character (the first being Bewitched). In the first season, Richard Preston was played by Stephen Johnson.moreless

    House Rules (2003)

    House Rules (2003)

    TBS (ended 2003)
Home improvement gets competitive when TBS Superstation pits three teams of amateur home remodelers against each other in the new reality series House Rules, presented by Lowe's. The series, which will result in one team winning the home they've renovated, is hosted by Mark L. Walberg (Temptation Island) and premiered Friday, Oct. 10 at 8/7c, on TBS Superstation. The three teams chosen for the inaugural edition of House Rules are; Red Team: Katie & Adam, newlyweds who will spend their honeymoon competing on the show. Blue Team: Cindy & Bill, who have been married for 11 years. Silver Team: Rebecca & Joseph, who have been in a long-distance relationship for nearly a year. Each week, the teams must compete to win their share of a remodeling allowance to be used to pay for the renovations. Once a week, they will also have an opportunity to spy on each other's progress as they each host weekly dinner parties for their opponents on a rotating basis. TBS Superstation viewers also have a chance to get in on the action. At the end of the 12-week competition, it will be up to viewers to select the winning team by voting. The team with the most votes will actually win the deed to their newly remodeled home. The Rules of House Rules: -Each team will renovate one home, starting on a new room each week. -Each team will put their lives on hold for the 12 weeks of the competition. This means they must take a leave of absence from their jobs, as well as move into the house they are renovating. -Weekly allowances will be given to each team, but they must compete in theme games to determine which team gets the largest allowance. Each week's allowance can only be spent for that week's room. It cannot be spent on another room or banked for use later. -Contestants must do all work themselves, with a few exceptions for major installations, which will be handled by Lowe's. -Teams cannot call friends to help them on larger projects. They can only ask for help from their competitors. -All materials must come from Lowe's. -Major tools must be shared among the teams. -A panel of judges will view each team's work for the week. The team whose project is chosen as the week's best will win a special prize. -At the end of the 12 weeks, TBS Superstation viewers will determine which team will actually win the house they've renovated. -The winning team was announced live on TBS Superstation on Friday, Dec. 19.moreless

Movies For Guys Who Like Movies

    TBS
Movies For Guys Who Like Movies was originally broadcast on the TBS network and aired weekly for three consecutive years from 1999 to 2002. The show, which was at various times hosted by Karyn Bryant, Rich Schwartz, Helen Keaney, George Gray and Anthony Cusato, showcased popular movies that appealed to young male audiences. The hosts, in addition to introducing the films, presided over fun-filled segments during breaks in the movies. These segments were jam packed with trivia, behind-the-scenes movie and production information and some really cool stunts. Some of the stunts included training with world-renowned martial artists, piloting a Navy LCAC Hovercraft and battling with an enemy in simulated dogfights. During the broadcast of the James Bond thriller Never Say Never Again, host Rick Schwartz swam with live sharks and explored a shipwreck that was sunk during the film's production. For the broadcast of Universal Soldier starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, hosts spent a day with Dale Dye, who works as a military consultant on major motion pictures.moreless
