At the top of the world, in the coldest parts of North America, there is a whole trucking industry that most people had never heard of. Some communities and industries can only be reached for a few months each year, when rivers or seas freeze over. Ice Road Truckers follows some of the drivers that live life on the edge, working flat-out to supply them over these winter roads. Season 1 and 2 are based in Canada's Northwest Territories, first the diamond mines around Yellowknife and then the Mackenzie River ice road from Inuvik. Seasons 3 and 4 move to the USA and focus on Alaska's Dalton Highway, supplying the oilfields in Prudhoe Bay. Season 5 splits coverage between Alaska and the winter roads Winnipeg, in Canada's Manitoba.moreless

Apocalypse, PA is a History Channel reality television series that follows the eccentric, renegade lifestyle of the Belcastro family, who lead an entirely self-reliant lifestyle in rural Pennsylvania by providing for themselves and inventing clever solutions to common problems. Frank Belcastro and his wife, Kim, along with their son Frank and daughter Emma, have made a life for themselves in the Pennsylvania woods free from the dependencies most modern families are forced into. For instance, Frank has modified his truck to run on goat manure and wood rather than gasoline, creating an entirely sustainable form of transportation that gets him around his land and into town. Belcastro also mixes his own gunpowder which he uses to fire his home-made cannon. Frank insists he's not crazy, and he knows the fall of civilization isn't expected anytime soon. But in this revealing and interesting series, viewers will get to see the many strides the Belcastros have take towards total independence-just in case.moreless
