My Hometown is a Canadian drama series starring a young Jay Baruchel as adolescent Thomas Thompson, struggling to adapt to his new hometown. Then season opens with Mr. and Mrs. Thompson (Alan Fawcett) and (Michele Ferney) moving their kids Thomas, Dennis (Jamie Elman) and Tracey (Chantal Leblanc-Everett) out of the big city and into a small Canadian suburb. Thomas has trouble letting go of his old hometown, but things change after his cousin Alex (Ken Munday) comes to live with them. Dennis soon leaves for college, and Thomas finds himself competing with his cynical cousin for his parent's attention. Tracy starts to treat her nerdy bother as if he doesn't exist at school when she joins the popular crowd. After some time, Thomas makes friends at school, and falls for Susan (Frances Brady-Stewart), the school's most popular girl, who immediacy puts him in the friend zone. Simon stops competing with Thomas by mid-season, and he becomes his best friend. Things start to get a bit ugly after Susan starts to develop feelings for Thomas's cousin. moreless
