Great episode--this one gets inside the respective heads of all the characters on the show when the heat breaks down and they all experience revealing daydreams. Some are silly (Bill imagines making out with every woman he sees, Mr. James acting out the ending to St. Elsewhere), some are brilliant (Dave imagining that everyone actually did their work, Matthew imagining Bill and Catherine getting together). My favorite is the dream of the sandwich vendor, Howie. He just wants to be one of the gang, to talk to the characters and be friends with them. They treat him like a leper. It's really hard-edged, something that most sitcoms would never do at risk of making their characters "unlikeable". NewsRadio never cared about that, to their credit. Saying it's one of the series' best episodes is pointless when talking about NewsRadio, since nearly every episode can be so described. Let's just day that it's darn funny.moreless

    • Eric (the very white guy who interupts Catherine's daydream) is played an uncredited NewsRadio writer/producer Joe Furey.

    • This episode is filled with movie/television parodies, particularly Beth's hallucinations, which are inspired by the horror films she saw with Matthew ("Alien," "A Nightmare on Elm Street"). At the end of the episode, Mr. James has an hallucination (or does he?) that spoofs the famous ending to "St. Elsewhere"'s series finale.
