Jimmy: How was Ohio? Dave: Wisconsin, sir. Jimmy: Aw, same thing. Dave: The heartland appreciates your support, sir.
Dave: You must have some skeletons in your closet. Jimmy: Hell, I've got skeletons running around raiding food from the fridge, it's like a skeleton convention in there.
(Dave tries to talk to Matthew but starts laughing at his moustache) Dave: I'm sorry Matthew, I can't pretend that's not there. Matthew: If you were a chick, you wouldn't be giggling. Dave: If I were a chick, I wouldn't be talking to you.
Lisa: I just don't understand what Jimmy is doing. Bill: Eating a sandwich. Lisa: No. I mean, what could he possibly be thinking? Bill: Probably "Mmm. Good sandwich."
Jimmy: (upon seeing Matthew's new moustache) What's the story with your face, son?
Bill: Your confusing thesis has captured my attention. Tell me more.
Mr. James: Light the fuse and run away eh Dave? Dave: ...You baffle me sir.
Lisa: They're all decent persons Dave, but once a man throws his hat into the ring it is my duty, as a journalist, to make him my bitch.
Mr. James: I am a cipher, wrapped in an enigma, covered in secret sauce.
Instead of the regular end credits, we have a scene with Bill meeting Al Roker (although he claims he isn't).
Jimmy jokingly accuses Dave of growing up in Canada. Ten episodes from now we will learn that Dave actually was born in Canada (just like Dave Foley).
WNYX has a completely new conference table. Undoubtedly there to replace the one accidentally burned by Matthew at the end of the previous episode Led Zeppelin II.
During the press conference, Lisa accuses Jimmy of having ties to the Nixon administration, and he counters by claiming to be "Deep Throat". There is another episode in which this is strongly implied (Jimmy claims that Bob Woodward owes him a favor).
The line, "My Maserati does 185" is indeed from the song "Life's Been Good", written by Joe Walsh and performed by The Eagles. It is one of the band's most popular live songs, although it is curious why Mr. James wants to use it for his campaign, since the song is a slyly ironical farce about the excesses of fame.
It has been alluded to several times that Mr. James was Deep Throat. The real Deep Throat was revealed in mid 2005 to be W. Mark Felt, 2nd man in the FBI.
