  • "Jimmy has fancy plans, and pants to match."....

Office employee terminator Andrea has something new that has the WNYX staff up in arms about: she wants to make them take a polygraph test. One of the questions asks each employee if they know that one of their co-workers is hiding a criminal past. No one is nervous about answering that question until Lisa pipes up with some interesting information that will force the staff to lie. Andrea has already fired Matthew and other lower level employees, so who knows what will happen in one gets caught lying or gives an undesired answer to a question? This makes some of the staff go to extraordinary lengths to be able to beat the test and the absolute highlight of the episode is Dave's taking of the polygraph test.

While all of this is going on, Jimmy James begins his US tour of his book "Jimmy James: Capitalist Lion Tamer" - it had flopped in the US years before but, after being translated into Japanese, it has been the top selling book in Japan. Jimmy thought to translate the Japanese version back into English to better sell the book, but he is shocked when he sees that his book got lost in translation with the new title being "Jimmy James: Macho Business Donkey Wrestler." Imagine, if you will, what the bulk of the book is like if the title got butchered so badly.

"Super Karate Monkey Death Car" is a hilarious episode of NewsRadio - catch it if you can.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (0)

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Jimmy: Do you think Ernest Hemmingway ever had a book reading that was that bad?
Dave: I don't think Margeaux Hemmingway ever had a book reading that was that bad.

    • Jimmy James: (reading from book) I never doubted myself for a minute for I knew that my monkey-strong bowels were girded with strength, like the loins of a dragon ribboned with fat and the opulence of buffalo dung.

    • Joe: You stole a car?
Beth: How did you do that?
Lisa: It's easy. You can pull the ignition wires and cross them with no cosmetic damage at all.
Beth: But how did you get into the car?
Lisa: You put a brick through the window.

    • Jimmy: (reading from his book) Glorious sunset of my heart was fading. Soon the super karate monkey death car would park in my space. But Jimmy has fancy plans, and pants to match.

  • NOTES (2)

    • The title "Super Karate Monkey Death Car" is also the name of the computer game that Lisa's 23 year old brother invented and sold to Microsoft in the episode "Negotiation."

    • Ron Jeremy (the famous porno star) is at Books, Etc. when Jimmy is reading from his book. He is one of the people that gets up and leaves right before they open the floor for questions.

    • Jimmy: Maybe I should do a reading here: Jimmy James Live at Budokan.

Jimmy is referencing the album Cheap Trick: Live at Budokan (1979). Recorded at a concert at the Budokan arena, the album was the American break out album for the band which, like Jimmy James, had a huge following in Japan but next to no appreciation back home in the U.S.

    • Dave: Great Joe. Now Dean Wormer can never put the Deltas on probation.

Dave is referencing the hot comedy film Animal House (1978) which chronicled the adventures of the members of Delta House, the most slovenly fraternity on campus. Dean Wormer (as played by John Vernon) was the humourless university administrator determined to abolish the Deltas.

    • Dave: I obviously didn't watch as much Zoom as you.

Zoom was a children's program that was broadcast on PBS starting in the 70's. It featured games, crafts and stunts that children could do by themselves at home. A new version is currently on the air.
