Norm Macdonald is the fourth SNL alumni to be on this show.
When Beth comes into Dave's office to tell him that Matthew hurt himself, as Dave walks out of the office, a boom microphone comes into view at the top of the frame.
When Dave is discussing Matthew's injury to Jimmy, Jimmy's lap top monitor is shown up, and when it cuts back to him from Dave a second time it's down and then when it cuts back to him a third time it's up again.
In the scene right after Joe disappears using his "old Green Beret trick", Dave enters his office actively looking for Joe before Joe appears from "nowhere". In the bottom right hand corner of the screen, you can see Joe's back hiding behind Dave's desk, and even see him start to stand up, in plain sight of Dave.
There is a goof in the scene where Dave and Catherine are talking to Bill's doctor, with Bill and "Fred" (Jon Lovitz) arguing behind him. As Dave and Catherine stand up and Dave goes over to the window, the camera pulls back far enough that in the bottom left hand corner you can see that the wall separating them is fake.
During the ending credits when Lisa is running after the kid you can clearly hear the shoes smacking against pavement or a hard floor, though they are supposed to be running around the White House lawn.
In this episode, there is speculation that Matthew is adopted. Andy Dick is adopted in real life.
Matthew ,through a series of sound effects, describes the experience of seeing a movie called Agent Zero. Agent Zero is also mentioned in the Seinfeld episode "The Pool Guy" when Kramer's new phone turns out to be only one digit different from Moviefone.
Near the end, when everyone is admitting stealing office supplies to Dave, an unknown person is standing by Bill, face partially blocked. The next scene shows a wide-shot and the person is no longer in the group.
Andy Dick was a cast member of the short-lived "The Ben Stiller Show" in the early 90's.
Dave Foley is indeed actually Canadian. So is Phil Hartman.
Matthew says that he gave Dave a katana, which is a Japanese long sword, but if you look at the sword closely it is actually a wakizashi, the short sword which is often paired with a katana.
