      • (opening commentary)
Tom: Homosexuality - it's a political question in some quarters, a religious, ethical and legal question in others, and some argue it's just a question of lifestyles - a freedom to choose. I don't take sides, I just report the fact, you run risks. Sometimes it's not about lifestyles at all. It's about death.

      • Mrs. Carson: We've been very, very patient with all this police business, Frederick. You know how your father and I feel, I just asked if you were considering a change.
Freddie: Mama, I love you, please don't take this the wrong way, you never just ask.
Mrs. Carson: I'm your mother, Frederick, I'm only thinking of what's best for you.
Freddie: Mom, I'm not a child any more.
Mr. Carson: Then stop playing cops and robbers. It was fine when you were 10.
Freddie: Dad, we've been over this a thousand times.
Mr. Carson: But not in a hospital room.
        Mrs. Carson: Exactly.

      • (closing commentary)
Tom: Rick Travers' nightmare began with a homosexual encounter in prison. After it he never know who, or what, he was. I thought that would be the piece I'd write. Instead, I decided to feature Detective Fred Carson. It's about a young man who finds himself, and that's a better story.
