AIRED:
In the fourth season opener, a City Councilman with aspirations to the Mayor's chair holds a press conference saying that he has information on organized crime that he will be providing to the police commissioner. Kevin and Frank follow up on a rumor that one of the criminals being investigated has contracted a notorious hit man to kill the Councilman. While following up a lead on the killer's location, the team breaks into an apartment and finds it empty except for a 15 year old girl with an infant hiding under the bed. While the team continues the investigation, Lt. Hogan spends extended time in his office with the girl and her infant in an effort both to help them and to glean information that will assist in the apprehension of the hit man.moreless

      • (Opening commentary)
Tom: Just seeing her here shatters all our illusions of childhood innocence. And when that child has a child of her own, it's even more disturbing. It doesn't seem possible that anyone could get into this kind of trouble in 15 short years.

      • Tom: Well, is it true?
        Kevin: What?
Tom: Silk. Is he back in town?
        Kevin: Back?
Tom: Yeah, it's been 7 years since he killed the archbishop.
Kevin: Oh, right, right. The archbishop was killed getting out of a taxi in front of the Church. There were a thousand suspects at the time and there still are.
Tom: Yeah, but Silk's number one.
Kevin: We don't even know if Silk exists. Hmm. Right?
        Tom: Well, Interpol...
        Kevin: Oh. Interpol.
Tom: They think he's alive and well.
        Kevin: Ah. He's alive. He's dead. He's a terrorist. He's a crusader. He's a saint. He's French. He's German. He's Russian. He's Italian. Huh? He's Israeli. He takes his martinis with a twist.
Tom: With a twist? I didn't know that.
Kevin: Look, what I know is somebody killed the archbishop seven years ago.
Elaine: Silk has dinner with the pope twice a week. There's no way he'd hit on the Church.
Kevin: There you have it. True facts!

      • (Closing commentary)
Tom: Push a man to the wall, push him to the last minute, and even a Carmello Girotti, a man who's always found dirty money to do his dirty work for him, even he will finally take action for himself. Now they say every action has a reaction. True? Maybe it only seems that way after we've put all the pieces together, if we ever find all the pieces we need.
