      • (opening commentary)
Tom: The Beaumont Line. Climb a mountain, drink Perrineau, race a car, first class on the Orient Express, the world's your oyster if you wear a Beaumont suit. It's hot in the city. You'll want something light so the sweat won't show. And you'll want something dark - to cover the blood.

      • Kevin: Why would he (Marvin Thyson) accuse you of murder?
Laura Beaumont: And so we begin, just like the movies.
Kevin: There's a body down the hall and no popcorn.

      • Laura Beaumont: The Beaumont Line. I've offered everything I've ever made to pay my way out of this.
        Kevin: And no?
Laura: And no, I'm their ticket.
Kevin: Sad story: girl is beautiful, girl is rich, girl is famous, girl is unhappy, breaks your heart.
Laura: Jeremy Theisen is one piece of ugliness gone.
Kevin: Would it upset you if I told you were saying all the wrong things?
Laura: Well, I suppose an overheated cop in off the rack polyester is going to think whatever he wants, to the limit of his polyester mind. I didn't kill him.

      • Christine: Ah, Lieutenant, ballistics says - how's this for a surprise - it's an issue pistol from the French Algerian War. Looks like we're into collector's items.
Lt. Hogan: More to the point, did it kill him?
Christine: Well if it didn't, I think they're going to be pretty surprised down at the morgue. Yes, sir, it is the murder weapon.
Lt. Hogan: A little ray of sunshine.

      • (closing commentary)
Tom: We make our own prisons – all of us. And we sentence ourselves to life. It might take years. It might take months. It might only take a few days but all of us, sooner or later, want out. We get tired of pounding at the walls and shaking at the bars. We try to break out. Some try buying their way out. Or they shoot and kill. Most of us, most of us, try to dream our way out. For a night. For a couple of nights. Taste it. Life outside the walls.
