      • (opening commentary)
Tom: Looking for a new stereo? I can get you one cheap. But where does that stereo come from? When we think of organized crime we think of casinos and million dollar drug deals. But the real bread and butter of organized crime is a thousand ripoffs by a thousand small-time operators; guys who only make the papers when they find themselves on the losing end of a big deal.

      • (at the crime scene - a warehouse full of stolen merchandise)
Kevin: OK, let's start writing down some serial numbers.
Colby: Maybe I'll find my tapedeck.
Freddie: Nah, these guys only boost stuff they can sell Colby. Who'd want to buy your tapedeck?
Colby: Hey man, that was a good tapedeck.
        Freddie: In 1959.
        Colby: '69 - I ain't that old.

      • Kevin: Of course it's personal.
Frank: Look he (Whitey) helped us make a lot of cases. Most of the time he didn't have a choice, but there were times when he could have walked away and been safe doing it.
Kevin: But he didn't. So yeah, it's personal. And this is also a homicide investigation, and for me that's personal too.

      • (closing commentary)
Tom: Stoolie, squealer, rat. There are a lot of nasty names for a guy like Whitey, names that wise guys use, names that cops use too. But the relationship between cops and their informants usually isn't simple enough to distill into one word. This time it's different. This time the word is friend.
