      • (opening commentary)
Tom: News is something that happens somewhere else, in another part of town to other people. We witness it in the comfort our own living rooms. It distracts us, relieves the boredom. Tonight's lead story is a man on his way home. For the next day or two he'll occupy the spotlight. His claim to fame? The simple fact of being dead in a nice neighborhood. Like Jake LaMotta used to say, 'That's entertainment'.

      • Tom: I'll have a milk.
        Nikki: Straight up?
Tom: Yeah. Chocolate. I like chocolate.

      • Kevin: All right, this nut hit the prosecutor and the judge. Don't let the arresting officer (pointing to Lt. Hogan) out of your sight.

      • (regarding Lt. Hogan's exercise program)
Kevin: Jim, Tom's thinking maybe he'd like to do a feature on you.
Tom: Come on. I think it would be very encouraging to our ... ah ... older readers.
Lt. Hogan: Get that guy out of here before I hurt him.
Kevin: Yeah, get out of here before he hurts you!

      • (closing commentary)
Tom: It was a game for Collin Wilcox. He did fifteen years for murder and wanted a rematch. This time he had a better game plan. This time the breaks might go his way. In the end the final score was in the cards all along. The better team wins.
