Nightmare Theatre provided late-night horror to a large part of the
United States in the 70s. The macabre host known only as The Count
introduced horror films to an entire generation of viewers. Opening with
a castle shrouded in a dreary mist, the camera pans in to focus on a
coffin with a skeleton inside that morphs into The Count. Upon
resurrection, The Count introduces the film for the evening. With
Science-Fiction genres like Star Wars coming to prominence, the series
faded away in 1975.
