This second episode was not as good as the first. It seemed slow and didn't have that exciting of a story. It reminded me of "Big Fish" but lacked that movie's spark and creativity. I think the series will pick back up next time.

I'm going to go ahead and state that the first episode was genius; it's what we want from this series.
    The second?

    Horrible.

With amazing potential, Haber creates one of the cheesiest CG goofery since the last Sci-Fi Original. Claire Forlani is amazing, and try as she might, she can't save this car-wreck.

The Lovecraft influence was exciting for those of us who read Lovecraft (King has two such homage stories; this one and Jerusalem's Lot from the Night Shift collection--not to mention the novels that briefly touch on Lovecraftian concepts), but the climax of the episode is muddied by horrible editing and camera tricks. And why with the tentacles? So very anti-climactic, whereas they should have been the peak of the story.

    Lame.

I didn't really like Crouch End it seem like a bad episode of the Twilight Zone.

This episode was just weird.  I agree with the poster who said that he was like a bad episode of "Twilight Zone."  That's what I was thinking while watching the show.  However, bad an epi it may have been, Claire Forlani did an awesome job.

This episode seemed pointless, extremely odd, and made no sense whatsoever.

That being said, until the tentacle scene it was entertaining and I thought it was very beautifully shot, with the washed out colors and the camera tricks which made it seem even more nightmarish. The editing and acting and filming was great, the writing was not. It had so much potential though.

I didn't get this episode at all. What did that guy see on the other side? Who was the cab driver. What was that snake thingy? Who were those kids and those 3 teenagers and what about the cat at the end?

I think Crouch End really got the short story fairly right...

which is a shame, and perfectly logical, becauae I did not like the short story either.

It plods and I do not much enjoy the resolution. This, of course, is my opinion.

Well i'll give some points for a multi-dimensional storyline which I don't get to see very often. It started out great but the husbands behavior took away from it greatly. Showing us the police station with the drag marks on the table and then leaving us with a scarred cat with hubbys name, just plain weak in execution. Oh well hopefully next week will be better giving us two great stories instead of one.

I really liked this episode. Thought it was a brief, appetizer version of Silent Hill.

    spoiler alert

OK-maybe we were all spoiled by the first episode being so good. This episode didn't totally suck, the short story was better, but that is normal for most of King's writing.I think it was too long, but they had to make it an hour.By the way,the cat was the husband.

I agree, when they went to Crouch End it reminded me alot of Silent Hill.(Silent Hill was a lot better though)
It was really good up until the tenticles and then it kinda went downhill from there. It had so much potential to where they could have gone with the story.
I didn't really get the ending, but then again it leaves it up to your imagination to figure it out.

this one reminded me of It, with a big monster of some kind under the town, taking people, but in It they did something. One thing ive noticed about these stories is that everyone seems to be a victim without the ability to overcome. kinda want to see someone triumph over something...
