Nikita has seemingly found its groove, and once again offers up a killer episode. It's far from perfect - besides Nikita and Alex, most of the main characters are still fairly one-dimensional - but we're introduced to a very promising character, Owen, an operative under the call sign The Guardian. He manages to muster up more chemistry with Nikita in one episode than Michael in five. That says a lot. He also ups the action quota considerably; his smackdown with Nikita was awesome, and he unleashed all kinds of ass whoopery on The Cleaner (who is an awesome villain). The whole ordeal with the black box is a bit of a red herring, it's never addressed why Percy wanted Owen to retrieve it in the first place. While I also enjoyed Alex sneaking into Percy's office and planting a bug on Birkhoff, her scenes weren't all that great when she had to deal with Jaden and Thom. Still, this show is progressing nicely, and Maggie Q, once again, delivers the goods. I love her 'plain Jane' moments, she's such a diverse actress. And even though she has such a slender frame, you genuinely believe she could kick anyone's ass. And much like my opinion of Maggie Q, this show is starting to kick major ass too!moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Cameo: Stan Lee, creator of Spider-Man, is interviewed in a newscast about Owen Elliot and the bank robbery, saying "That bugger moved so fast it was like he's a superhero or something."

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Percy: (on the phone with Nikita) What do you want?
Nikita: What do I want...what I want is to empty a clip into your face.
Percy: Yeah, well, we both know that's not gonna happen.

    • Percy: You sure this is what you want? He's a blip, a rounding error. I could kill him and no one would notice.
Nikita: That's the difference between you and me, Percy. You'll kill anyone at any time. I don't waste life.

    • Michael: Does the CIA have a station there?
Birkhoff: In Montreal, yeah. They're monitoring the world's most polite terrorists.

  • NOTES (3)

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • Hank Excelsior: (on the news, referring to Owen) That bugger moved so fast, it was like he was a superhero or something!

"Excelsior!" is the favorite catchphrase of Stan Lee, American comic book legend and former president and chairman of Marvel Comics. Although the term "bugger" is common slang, it may also be a reference to one of Lee's most enduring characters, the bug-themed superhero Spider-Man. Additionally, his appearance as a simple bystander, is a reference itself to his numerous similar appearances in movies based off characters he created for Marvel Comics, such as in the Spider-Man and Fantastic Four film franchises.
