That's a big dropoff for cable's supposedly "most popular TV series."

this is looking a little saddish...
however Damages got only 1 million viewers and it was renewed for 2 more seasons. It's probably because FX judged the show by it's quality instead of ratings.

If only CBS would do the same for Jericho.

N/T also has proven earning potential. Despite a frenzied campaign on the part of the Parents Television Council a few years ago writing letters to advertisers, FX had no trouble at all selling spots. People want to buy adspace because they know a lot of those viewers are live and they want their products in front of those specific eyeballs.

"Damages" is one long Cadillac commercial anyway. I'm sure it must be pulling in some dosh for that.

Patty: Do you have the transcript from that deposition?
Ellen: Oh, sorry, I left that file in on my desk ...
    Patty: Let's take my car!
Ellen: But it's just in the next room ...
Patty: The seats are made of real cow. Smell!

So why do you all think the cause for the ratings slip? Personally I think they just need to get to the basis of the season already so we can prepare for the ride. I mean heck that Dawn Budge episode was clueless when it came to the Dawn story line...should of just kept to every going on around it.

    actually they aren't so bad.

Last's season finale had been watched by 2.8M and Season5 premiere opened with 4.3M .so it has been a big improvement. In addition,so far this season ,the ratings are between 3-4M ,it didn't drop below 3.

But for this show 3.4 mil is lower than what they're used to I'm sure, maybe the coming episode will pull back in some of the faithful.

Remember, it's not about ratings numbers, it's about the Demographic it reaches. I'm not sure who it's reaching, or if it's even possible for us to find out, but if it's reach the key 18-late twenties demographic, then we're all good cause those are the main money spenders (in terms of frivolous spending).
