Show Summary

Ever wondered what superheroes get up to when they're not saving the world? Well fear not - No Heroics is here to explain all. This six-part series follows the surprisingly ordinary lives of five unlikely British superheroes who spend their free time commiserating their lack of superiority and complaining about those more successful than them.

  • Interesting Concept

    6.5
Do not remember exactly how I stumbled upon this show but on the surface it does sound like a fun concept for a comedy.

Over the course of the six episodes the execution was a bit of a mixed bag. Most shows have a narrative thread which carries you through the from beginning to end. In "No Heroics" the A-storylines were not that memorable. What was memorable were the individual character portrayals. Yes at times it was a little too sweary and seemed to be inserted for the sake of it but overall I found the principal leads very engaging and entertaining.

I suppose this show was meant for this short run on ITV2 but it would have been interesting to see how they would have been able to develop the characters over a couple of additional series. Often shows really find their voice after a rather slowish start.moreless
  • So far so good

    8.0
First of all, keep in mind this is a British show. By that I mean if you don't have a penchant for low-budget, non-PC comedy, go and look at . Still here? Good. I had absolutely no expectations of this and it turns out to be a half hour at a time very well spent. The show is more lager-and-buddies-from-hell than anything else. Sure, if they wanted, the creators could have done an over-the-top glitzy comedy, but this WORKS. Wankers galore in this one, NO special effects, makes you feel good to be "just a homo-sapiens". The cast clicks right away and keeps it up there for the entire season. The jokes are not too crude unless given by a character who is crude - so as long as there is another layer of jokes there - hey, I'm satisfied. The only thing I do regret is that the show isn't a bit longet - we get only flashes of the characters outside the fabled Fortress bar; but that only means there is a lot of room for more! Best character: Timebomb. His adventures (at the psychiatrist, being a bodyguard, special torturing skit) are priceless. So, not something that will blow you away, but a good, imaginative, fun series!moreless
  • Could be better. Although No Heroics has great potential, it is let down by bad language and crude jokes. It is, however, certainly worth watching at least once.

    4.5
There will be inevitable comparisons to the great series, My Hero, but other than the fact it follows the real lives of superheroes, this couldn't be more different.

Unfortunately, No Heroics relies far too heavily on bad language and jokes about sex and drinking to get laughs, and as such, the funny moments are not as funny as they could be. It is not a series your could sit down and enjoy with your mother. Having said that, attention to detail is impressive. For the keen-eyed comic-book fan, there are plenty of references to the inspiration for the series. For example, postcards from MegaCity and Metropolis adorn the back of the bar.

No Heroics is the kind of programme that will either become a huge hit, or fade into obscurity after one series. If the bad language were removed, or even just toned down, then I am sure I would watch every episode.moreless
  • Who knew off duty superheroes could be so fun.

    9.0
No Heroics was far better than I ever thought. A show about off duty super heroes... how will that ever work? Is what I thought and the answer is very well.

It is about four superhero friends who spend their spare time at the super hero pub named "The Fortress". Alex, Sarah, Jenny and Don aren't exactly the most popular of the capes, actually they are the least popular, bottom of the barrel super heroes to ever roam the streets of Britain. The show follows their social lives, sex lives and the moral decisions they face in life and also trying to only use their powers at appropriate times.moreless

    No Heroics finds its Prinze

In case you were wondering whether the Americanized version of the British comedy No Heroics was going to be any good or not, here's your first sign: Freddie Prinze Jr. has joined the cast. Feel free to draw your own conclusions.

    ABC calls for No Heroics

If NBC's Heroes' goal is to help viewers find their inner strengths and use them for the greater good, ITV's No Heroics will teach fans to use their God-given talents to get laid, show off, and get free cigarettes.

    • Series 2
Altough this was made as a 6-part comedy I hope ITV renew this show for second series like the BBC did with Waterloo Road
