This episode once again elevated my expectations of this show, and I really thought the bar was raised once again!

The storyline was established brilliantly, with Jim saving the man's life, and then everything else that eventuated was very enjoyable too!

JJ's storyline continues to develop well, after what happened last week, and Daphne's storyline was also very interesting toady, as she goes up against the popular girl!

As for Jim & Stephanie, I odon't want to spoil the storyline, but it was very supsenseful and very interesting, and it was truly a brilliant script!

All up, I highly recommend this episode, and I was highly impressed1! Please keep it up, guys, and I can't wait for the next one!moreless
  • hold your horses! that's it?

    6.5
so in the previous episode Daphne got months worth of memories erase by our neighborhood telekinetic bad guy. and Stephanie, a scientist and studying the root of her family's new extraordinary ability, did not find this a wee bit curious? what happened? what next? who's next? so they just touch, Daphne gets bits of her memories back and she's ok with that? one theory to protect this show that's almost becoming one of my favorite is that, they got caught up with their new found friends. i haven't read what the next episode will be but i hope their new found friends stay and i hope they have a secret way deeper than what mommy was keeping. like super abilities! but then again, they'll have to change the shows title to no ordinary FAMILIES. hmm.. ORRRR! the family will become the arch nemesis of the powell family! haha!moreless

    • (talking about accusing Dave of being the art thief)
Jim: ...and now it's cost me a friend and I don't have many of those either.
George: Well, get used to it. You don't see Batman cultivating a wide circle of friends, and Peter Parker's always pissing off one of his buddies.
Jim: So with great power comes great loneliness?

    • Katie: Okay, so have you ever had somebody look at you, and it's like they are looking directly into your pre-frontal cortex?
      Stephanie: Katie, you're in love.
Katie: That's a valid diagnosis. I do have all the classic symptoms--anxiety, uneasiness, dread.
Stephanie: Well, that's not how you're supposed to feel when you're in love.
Katie: Well in my case, it is. Because love leads to commitment. And commitment leads to intimacy. And intimacy... has.. proven to be somewhat uncharted territory.
Stephanie: Katie, are you saying that you're still a...?
Katie: Yes. Okay, so back in high school, I decided that I was gonna wait for "The One," like Morpheus for Neo in The Matrix, but with sexual relations.

    • Katie: I don't do this very often.
The Watcher: Stand awkwardly in the doorway?
Katie: No. I do quite a bit of that, actually.

    • Katie: Uh, before we do what it is that I think we're gonna do, um, you should know that you're about to boldly go where no man has gone before.

    • Jim: Ohh. I'm freezing out here watching this museum... and hungry, too. You don't think anyone would ever deliver a pizza to to a rooftop, do ya?
George: (on the radio) I sympathize. I'm hungry, too.
Jim: Oh, really? What's that chewing sound?

    • Stephanie: The Cottens are a completely normal family.
Jim: That's what people say about us.
Stephanie: You do realize that you never thought our friends were criminals before we got superpowers.
Jim: No, I never thought our friends were criminals until we made friends with criminals.

    • Jim: Everybody has secrets.
      Dave: Not like this.
Jim: That's the thing about secrets. You don't know what they are.
Dave: Whatever the hell your secrets are, Jim Powell, you changed my life.

  • ALLUSIONS (5)

    • Katie: Yes. Okay, so back in high school, I decided that I was gonna wait for "The One," like Morpheus for Neo in The Matrix, but with sexual relations.
Referencing the 1999 movie featuring a mysterious hacker and rebel, Morpheus, who is waiting for a long-prophesied hero known as "The One" to free an enslaved humanity from the Matrix, where the machines have imprisoned them.

    • Jim: He was like James Bond.
James Bond, aka 007, is a fictional British spy created by writer Ian Fleming in 1952. James Bond is now best known from the EON Productions film series. As of the time this episode was filmed, twenty-two films have been made.

    • Katie: This is the most popular cocktail at the Star Wars cantina.
Referencing the Mos Eisley cantina seen in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977). Referred to as "a wretched den of scum and villainy," it's a hangout for all types of criminal types.

    • Katie: Uh, before we do what it is that I think we're gonna do, um, you should know that you're about to boldly go where no man has gone before.
Referencing the opening narration of the Star Trek series. The full line of dialogue, spoken by William Shatner as Captain Kirk, is "Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before." The line was also used in Star Trek: The Next Generation where it was amended to be non-gender exclusive, and said the goal was to boldly go where "no one" has gone before.

    • George: Did Superman ever send Lois in to take down the bad guys?
Referencing Lois Lane, a DC Comics character who works as a reporter for the Daily Planet newspaper. Initially she started out as infatuated with Superman and despising Clark Kent as a "weak sister." Eventually she matured and married Clark Kent, knowing of his secret identity as Superman.
