  • My favourite episode, it strongly reflects the themes and ideas that run through the series as as whole, here the audience see's into mireille's past and she discovers that she is in fact 'a child of the soledats'moreless

I think this episode brings you closer to merielle, all through the series, she appears to have no weakness, but when he is forced to kill her uncle claud, to protect kirika, we explore her more emotional side. After this episode, the experience seems to give her more fuel as an assasin and also gives her decisions more emotional depth.

This episode is an anime classic, in that the script is precise and to the point, rich and ingenious. The animation is as perfect as ever, and all together a brilliant part of the series.

My complements to the script writer! i can watch this episode time and time again! Noir volume 4 DVD which this episode is on is a must buy.

Thats all i have to say about this episode, it is awsome and inspiring, the story line in general is rich, simple and effortlessly addictive.moreless
  • Possibly the best episode I've seen yet!

At long last, the crucial piece of information from Mirielle's past is revealed. Granted, given the direction of the show, the identity of her family's killers wasn't exactly a big shock, but the way that information was delivered in this episode was true genius! In the previous episode, "Season of Hell," Kirika was shown as a tragic figure; this time, it's Mirielle who is portrayed this way. Once again, a ghost from Mirielle's past arrives to cast a shadow upon Noir, and it seems the relationship between Kirika and Mirielle has grown another layer. This was a terrific episode on all counts!moreless

  • QUOTES (8)

    • Mireille: Didn't I just say not to tag along? Go home, okay?
      Kirika: No.
      Mireille: I said go home.
      Kirika: And I said no.

    • Claude: We are much frailer than these flowers, Mireille. Once the Soldats sink their roots into your soul, you can never escape.

    • Claude: I swore an oath to them (the Soldats), Mireille. I swore that I would always follow their orders without question. That's the only reason I was able to leave Corsica alive with you. We live but by their grace.

    • Mireille: So you lied- about everything
Claude: But you lied to me as well, Mireille. Noir - you said you didn't know her.

    • Claude: I'm working on a big job at the moment.
Mireille: And you want me to help you, is that it?
Claude: No. I want you to stand back and watch.

    • Claude: Raise them with love and flowers will respond.

    • Claude: I'm the one who killed them.
Dupois: (laughs) That's a classic, Feyder! I never thought you had a humorous bone in your body, but -
      (Claude shoots him)
Claude: I'm sorry, but their orders were quite specific. And there was one more thing. I'm afraid your name was on the list as well, my friend.

    • Mireille: Noir, it is the name of an ancient fate. Two maidens who govern death. To ward the darkness, from the nursing babes, their black robes serve as shields.
