      ADD TRIVIA
      • Factual error: Joel states that things fall at a speed of "32 feet per second squared." However, this is actually the rate at which gravity causes things to accelerate. Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity; speed is the absolute value of velocity. Since he memorized the number and is apparently very familiar with physics, it's unlikely Joel would be unaware of the difference.

    • QUOTES (13)

      ADD QUOTES
      • Shelly: You may not be playing with a full set of checkers, but you can king me anytime.

      • Shelly: (complimenting Holling on standing up for himself) You didn't care who knew what a dork you are!

      • Shelly: How's he gonna feel when he's seven or something and his whole crew is out-or worse, he won't even have a crew!

      • Shelly: It smells like real leather almost!

      • Holling: Don't you see the sands of time dribbling through the hourglass?

      • Holling: (a customer leaves because he turned off the game) Anyone else feels likewise, don't let the door hit you in the back on the way out.

      • Holling: Sports just bore me numb. Especially baseball. That game is slow as sap.

      • Holling: The child hasn't taken his first breath yet and he already has two of 'most everything!

      • Joel: (inordinately upset) Suddenly Nadine Fleischman has turned into John J. Audubon. This from the woman who thinks pigeons are flying rats. Marilyn: I get it. You had a fight with your father.

      • Joel: Jewish women from Queens don't fly!

      • Joel: All this "You're right, you're wrong, you're wrong, you're right..." Suddenly boom, you're wearing a dead man's coat. This is Uncle Manny. This is dad's younger brother. His younger brother. You ever think about that? Nadine: Shh. I didn't do that for you enough, did I? Shhhh.

      • Nadine: I expect to be charged by a moose any second.

      • Marilyn: The Eagle wasn't always the Eagle. The Eagle, before he became the Eagle, was Yucatangee, the Talker. Yucatangee talked and talked. It talked so much it heard only itself. Not the river, not the wind, not even the Wolf. The Raven came and said "The Wolf is hungry. If you stop talking, you'll hear him. The wind too. And when you hear the wind, you'll fly." So he stopped talking. And became its nature, the Eagle. The Eagle soared, and its flight said all it needed to say
