My wife found the plot of the heavy metal star to be grating in large part due to the annoying character. I, however, liked it. Adam Ant plays the self-absorbed rock star brilliantly. Part of Northern Exposure's charm is exposing us to the oddest, most neurotic characters on television. The character of a superstar so convinced that life is all about him is rather ironic considering that the theme of the show happens to be that the world is a big place and we are just a pebble in a big pond. That's the whole point of the rock star's presence in this episode.moreless

    • Goof: When Chris dreams he is in the "Last Supper Club," he is introduced to the Apostles. Four of them are called Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. While these are the four Gospel authors, Mark and Luke were not Apostles, and therefore were not present at the last supper. (They were disciples of Jesus, but not called specifically by him.)

    • Chris: (preparing to fling Tooley) Ten centuries back, a fallen Viking warrior was let go, released to his second death, adrift a burning boat, solo, his helmet and his shield across his strapping barrel chest. Tooley wasn't Scandinavian exactly, but he did embody the spirit and physique of the mighty Norseman. True, we don't have a boat to set aflame, but we have The Fling, which Webster's describes as a brief time of wild pleasures. In just a handful of seconds, Tooley's going to experience things we can only imagine. He's going to soar like an albatross, plunge like a grayling into the crystal waters and start on a fling of his own to places that we can only ponder in the daylight and experience in our dreams.
