      • Notre Dame:
        Head Coach: Brian Kelly
Captains: Harrison Smith and Darius Fleming
        .
        Maryland:
        Head Coach: Randy Edsall
Captains: Davin Meggett, Andrew Gonnella (injured), Kenny Tate (injured) and Joe Vellano

      • This is only the second meeting between the two schools. The first meeting was on Aug. 31, 2002 at Giants Stadium in the Kickoff Classic. Notre Dame beat then #21 Maryland 22-0 in what was Tyrone Willingham's first game as Notre Dame's head coach.

      • Both teams wore special uniforms for the game. Notre Dame wore green jersey with gold pants and numbers. They also wore brightly patterned gold helmets with large shamrocks on each side. The helmets are for this game only and took four hours each to make.
        .
Maryland wore their white 'Maryland Pride' uniforms with red lettering and multicolored helmets patterned after the Maryland state flag.

      • FedEx Field is the home of the NFL's Washington Redskins. Although it is located only nine miles from the Maryland Campus in College Park, this game marks the first time the Terrapins have played there.

    • QUOTES (4)

      • Notre Dame Coach Brian Kelly: Getting off to a good start is running the football. Jonas Gray is what we've all been talking about in a consistent performer. I thought he was capable of this before the season.
        .
(on whether or not it felt like a road game)
Notre Dame Coach Brian Kelly: No, it was really loud coming in. It was an enjoyable atmosphere. We really loved being here. I know our players were excited when they got out on the field and heard the crowd and the action that in the stadium.

      • Maryland Coach Randy Edsall: A couple too many opportunities on defense on third down, you know, we couldn't get off, we didn't tackle that well on defense. Notre Dame is an outstanding football team, they had something to do with those missed tackles, and offensively we couldn't get a whole lot going and, same thing, dropped passes; that didn't help with the continuity of what we needed to get done.
        .
        (on starting quarterback Danny O'Brien)
Maryland Coach Randy Edsall: He broke a bone in his upper arm and we will know a little bit more after I get back out of here and talk with our doctors. He's not going to be back ready to play, I know that.

      • Maryland Linebacker Demetrius Hartsfield: We try to be there for each other and try to play for each other. A season like this, where everything is going wrong, it's easy to quit. That's the one thing that we don't want to be known as. If anything, we just want to try and win these last two games. The plan is definitely to win the next two games. We're going to have to be on our P's and Q's once again this week in practice

      • Notre Dame Quarterback Tommy Rees: We wanted to go with a hurry-up tempo offense. Throughout the game they were getting tired with our tempo.
