Alan says that he's working on a 5,000-piece puzzle. However, if one counts the number of pieces that make up the length and width (approximately 35 x 30), it is actually only a 1000-piece puzzle.
The MATH in this episode includes: Group theory and projectile motion.

Charlie says GPS satellites are on a geo-synchronous orbit. That's wrong. They're on an intermediate orbit between geo-synchronous and low Earth orbit. At geo-synchronous altitude, satellites orbit the Earth every 24h. GPS satellites orbit every 12 hours.
Charlie: I need to devote myself to something significant in my field...important to other mathematicians.
Alan: Yeah, you know what I think, Charlie? I think your life's work should be what you find important.
Roley: Did you, uh, brought money, right?
Megan: Oh, I brought better than money!
Agents: (Showing up) FBI! FBI! FBI!
Colby: Your brother is starting to freak me out a little bit.
Don: What? Just a little?
Larry: Wisdom and genius: rarely present in equal abundance.
Larry: You're a talented theoretician with an ego problem.
Charlie (Regarding cell phones) : Do you two realize what's in here?
Don: Well, in your case a whole lot of unanswered voice mail, I can tell you that.
Charlie: The only keg party I ever threw [in college], he stole the keg.
Larry: You know, Don, you and I are very alike. We are both focused on large possibly unattainable goals. Me trying to explain the workings of the universe...
Don: And what am I doing? Trying to take all those unworkable workings and put them in jail. Yeah good luck to both of us.
(the FBI has caught the actual three robbers and murderers, the lead guy is pushed against the window and sees the baby doll in the car)
Warren: Hey, what's that?
Megan: Shut up, can't you see the baby's sleeping?
Marshall: You were always testy when challenged... Ya know, I was talking about that with Amita...
Charlie: You were, were you? Marshall, do whatever you like... just you remember... Amita's a sharp mathematician so no matter how you try you're never gonna to get her to believe that this (holds up two fingers an inch apart) is six inches.
Marshall: (smirking) I bet with you that subject's never come up.
Colby: (to David) ooooo... math fight!
Amita: I love jigsaw puzzles.
Larry: ...and I love pizza.

Larry: A little too Big Brother to me.
Big Brother was the symbol of The Party in George Orwell's 1984, which describes a totalitarian dystopia in which the government controls every aspect of life, including one's thoughts.
