Opening Numb3rs:
250,000-500,000 SEX WORKERS
7,627 ESCORT SERVICES
64 PROSTITUTION ADVOCACY GROUPS
5 DEAD JOHNS
At the end of the episode, the FBI knocks on the doors of all the hotel rooms assuming the killer is in one of them. It's not reasonable to expect him to come to the door and open it for them. Yet when that doesn't happen, they say the hotel is clear, and that he isn't there.
The apartment manager who showed the body to Colby and Nikki wouldn't have known to call the FBI instead of the police. It is far more plausible that having found the body, that she would have called 911, which would have brought the LAPD. They would have secured the crime scene and then they would have notified the FBI.
Nikki (to Colby): You ask me how I'm doing, I'll shoot you.
Colby: (pause) How're you doin'?
( Nikki shoves Colby playfully against the elevator wall)
Colby: (as the elevator doors close) Take it easy, I just got into a car accident.
