  • Season 1 Finale

    9.5
After the last 2 explosive episodes, things start to simmer down, but that doesn't mean that the shocking occurrences have to end on the season finale of October Road.

Did Gavin Goddard have to be a real person? It's not necessarily a complaint, I just wish things would have gone down differently. Like lets say, if Nick was actually Sam's father. It still was a surprise which really helped the finale overall, and it was quite a cliffhanger with his return.

The cinematography continues to be absolutely amazing. I really thought Nick was going to run to Aubrey, the fact that Hannah opened the door completely took me by surprise. Eddie & Janet getting together is what all of us have been waiting for all season. We all knew what else we were waiting for, and that was Owen finding out about Allison.

That was definitely explosive, and it leaves things up in the air for the season to come with Eddie & Nick reconciling and going to find Owen. The beautiful thing about this episode was watching Phil take his first steps out of the house, that was just amazing. I found myself cheering for joy when Pizza Girl came in to Phil's arms. Superb finale to a superb season, can't wait for season 2!moreless
  • Nick, Owen, and Ikey try to surprise Eddie by opening up the doors, floors, and windows shop that Nick and Eddie were going to open before Nick left town. Big Cat tells Owen about the affair between Ikey and Alison.moreless

    9.9
This was such an amazing season finale. I could not even believe it. I loved the windows shop scene, I think Eddie has a right to be angry but I think it is great Nick is trying to make amends. I wonder why Eddie got stuck, or if he wanted to? I love the scene between Nick and Sam. I love how Sam asks Nick if he thinks he is Sam's father. Nick replies honestly and Sam asks him if he could be his father. I love that Nick respects Hannah enough to tell Sam they should just be friends. I felt so bad for Owen when he found out that his wife was having an affair with Ikey, he was so upset. I think it was great he tried to help Physical Phil when he left town by ordering pizza to the house next door so Pizza Girl would be there when Phil took his first steps outside. And then we come to my favorite scene ever, where Nick declares his love for Hannah. I loved his speech and if I were Hannah, I would have melted into his arms. I loved the line "laughing beneath a lipstick sky", the writers for this show are brilliant. Of course I can't forget Eddie's declaration of feelings for Janet and the twirl Janet does after, such a classic television moment. This episode is one of the best ever, and definitely the best season finales of any series!moreless
  • A conclusion of the short, yet interesting season.

    10
It's amazing how much this show achieved in just 6 episodes. We got to see great stories which reached their peak and are ready to either spread out or conclude sometime in the future.

I was disappointed when Nick realized he must make a change or he'll miss out on something, and then he went to Hannah. The struggle for her is long, and being with Aubrey is a much better resolution. I wasn't happy with the way Aubrey was left. Hurt and crying. However, it was very interesting. And I can't wait to see the way Nick will try to get Aubrey back when she returns to Knight Ridge. She definitely didn't deserve this.

Ray did what he had to do. And I'm glad he did it. The truth had to get out. Owen was hurt and it all turned into what I wanted it to turn into. It made Owen realize he needs to leave. Alison realized how much she wants her husband. What a b***h! She needs to lay around with Ikey to realize that she needs her family? Some people are really complicated.

I'm very glad Eddie and Janet are together again. They are amazing together and I can't wait to see more of them. Rebecca Field will be a regular next season (I don't see the reason why Janet hasn't been a regular from the beginning). Also, the Phil stuff was great. He had leave. And I knew Pizza Girl would be the one to do it. They were funny and interesting.

Gavin Goddard appeared for awhile, but I already hate him. He's a good guy, but I just don't like him. All in all, this was a great episode, which left me wanting more. How am I going to wait until 2008 to get new episodes?moreless
  • I can not believe that this is the last episode of the season.

    9.8
I thought that this was a great episode. I really liked that Nick bought a building and started Best Friend Windows I think that it is good way for him to get Eddie to talk to him but i do not think that it had the effect that he wanted. I was really mad that Big Kat told Owen that his wife was cheating on him with one of his friends. I do not like that Big Kat is not happy so he has to make everyone else miserable as well. I was sad to see Nick tell Hannah that he wants to be with her and then he meets Gavin Goddard. I was really happy to see Nick and Eddie leaving town to bring Owen back home.moreless
  • What goes on with the season finale?

    10
"Best Friend Windows" is a reference to the company name that Nick and Eddie were supposed to open 10 years ago right before Nick left. In this episode, the gang makes an attempt to resurrect the idea of "Best Friend Windows."

In a nerve-wrecking season finale, Nick finally chooses between Hannah and Aubrey, but there is an amazing twist when he finally chooses! Physical Phil proves that true love can conquer all obstacles. Also, Ray decides to drop another bomb on the gang's life. Things are looking good between Eddie and Janet and Eddie confronts Nick.

Everyone who's anyone knows about the Nick and Hannah legend, and everyone who's anyone also knows what broke them apart. In this shark-jumping season finale, Nick finally chooses between old girlfriend Hannah or young, smart Aubrey. Also, when Nick makes his decision, it would be one he wish he never made! This plot was excellent. Aubrey isn't one of my favorite characters since she doesn't have many plot opening especially since she's only connected to Nick.

Physical Phil shares an experience that I'm sure, most of us have experienced. When Phil gets desperate to get back to love of his life, he sacrifices what he believes in just to be with her. Making life changing sacrifices is the true test of what love really is and he was rewarded greatly. Great plot for this episode, by the way, Pizza Girl has been casted as a series regular for next season.

Previously on October Road, we saw Ray catching Ikey and Alison on a lip-lock. He decided to make everyone's life a little bit more difficult by telling Owen Rowan all about it. Surely, Owen is devastated and leaves Alison. Nick and Ikey just might have broke their friendship with Owen, Ikey just might have broke all his friendships and it takes a situation like this to bring back together old friends. Favorite plot of the episode, it was genius.

The situation between Alison, Owen and Ikey opens Eddie's eyes to see that he has been sad. He might have had all the skinny, hot girls, but none of them truly made him happy. In this episode, Janet gives him a second chance, and you could say Janet is way more than happy. The most hilarious part of the episode, a must see.

When Nick, Ikey, Owen and Ronnie decide to open up a store named "Best Friend Windows" for Eddie, emotions flare. Eddie showcases some anger towards Nick about how he has been acting since he came back after 10 long years. A quarrel turns into a fight when Owen and Ikey can no longer control the two. Great plot line as well, we finally see Eddie's true reasons for showcasing anger towards Nick.moreless

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • TRIVIA: Repeated phrases:
"What goes on?" and "How can this be?"
"What goes on?" seems to be a common catchphrase in Knight's Ridge, as it is used by many different people.
"How can this be?" is repeated by Owen when he finds out about Alison & Ikey's affair.

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Nick: Now what are you doing here?
Eddie: I hear you're going after Owen. (Nick nods) I'm coming with you.
      Nick: I can handle it.
Eddie: Yeah and I'm sure you can, but I'm not letting you leave town a second time, Nicky. Not alone, not without me.

    • (Nick pounding on door, Hannah answers and steps outside)
Hannah: Nick, what are you doing here?
Nick: Everything about this place reminds me about my mother, everything, her memory haunted it all and when I left here and put some distance between myself and the Ridge it got easier, but just the thought of me coming back here, the pain of it kept me away its indefensible I know, but I was a kid, but I was grieving, and I was dumb, I lost my way.
      Hannah: Okay, Nick, please...
Nick: (interrupts) What I remember, is you barefoot in your prom dress pumping gas into my truck laughing beneath the lipstick sky, remember that?
Hannah: Mmhh, I hated that truck.
Nick: Look those years are gone, and I didn't plan on coming back here, and causing you any pain, but I didn't expect on meeting Sam, and I didn't expect to have these feeling for you, look the moment I saw you ten years later, it was just so obvious, whether I am Sam's father or not or whether its this Gavin Goddard guy that you speak of, no coming back here the only thing that matters is that is that I want you guys in my life, I can see that now, I guess what it comes down to is maybe you really do only get one shot, maybe that's the only unreasonable beauty of things.
Hannah: The unreasonable beauty of things?
Nick: No matter that, seeking the truth, the incontrovertible reality.
      Hannah: Yes? (they get closer)
Nick: We all fall in love sometimes, you know.

    • Eddie: And then I was thinking about you and the way you smile and the way it starts in your eyes and spread across your face like a rush of ink. I was thinking about how I see you or I hear your voice on the phone, I think to myself "Oh goodie, now the fun begins."
Janet: (repeats) Oh goodie, now the fun begins?
Eddie: Yeah, and I was thinking that when I'm with you, I'm not sad anymore.

    • (Nick walks up to Sam and Doodie who are looking through a telescope)
Nick: Hey, what are you doing?
Sam: Doodie thinks he's discovered a planet, a moving planet (whispers), between you and me, he's discovered an airplane. (They laugh.)
      Nick: So you feeling?
Sam: Okay, I guess. Doctor says I'm not supposed to do a lot of running around, don't wanna pull a stich and all.
Nick: No, don't wanna do that. Well I'm glad you're alright, you know, we were all really worried about you.
Sam: Can I ask you a question?
      Nick: Yeah, sure.
Sam: Do you ever sometimes think that maybe you're my dad?
Nick: Yeah, I do. I did and I really like the idea of it a lot, but then you're mom told me about Gavin Goddard. So what goes on with Gavin Goddard?
Sam: Word is Gavin Goddard is the richest man in the world, that he lives in a castle in the clouds, and he rides around in a flying pomegranate made outta gold.. of course Gavin Goddard's not here and you are.
Nick: Look, Sam, I don't know about the father of it all, but I'll tell you one thing I really love being your friend.
      Sam: Thanks.
      Doodie: It's moving again!
