    Now this isn't the strongest episode of October Road but it definitely is better than the last episode. Did anyone really care for the spelling bee? It seemed too abrupt, although I did like how it tied all the story lines together in the end. Eddie & Janet having sex for the first time was sweet, it was different from other generic sex scenes (like Nick & Aubrey, a couple episodes ago).

    The development I mostly liked was Hannah's and her admitting to Janet that Gavin Goddard isn't really Sam's dad. You know Hannah has come off as unlikable as of late. Not only because she's slept with everyone in Knight's Ridge but how she lies to her son and tells him that a person who isn't her father, is. I just found that really shady.

    Aubrey's whereabouts was also another intriguing story line. I liked how things tied together in the end with the spelling bee. Good episode of October Road, but pretty much the same thing we've been getting for weeks other than the Aubrey story.moreless

  • Janet and Eddie are both nervous and worried about taking their relationship to the next level. A local kid is participating in the spelling bee finals and the whole town is rooting for him. Nick thinks Aubrey may be lying and or cheating on him.moreless

    I love the interactions between Janet and Eddie in this episode. I think it is great that Janet wants to take their relationship to the next level, but Eddie is nervous because in the past when once he slept with a girl it was over between them and he wants more with Janet. I love how they finally ended up just having fun with eachother. These two are so cute together. I thought it was great to see Pizza Girl being nice to Alan Kornduffer, it showed us just how nice she is. It also gave us some background on her family, and how she is an oddling, but her being an oddling is why we love her so much. I love how Ronnie and the Commander are so protective over Nick, they tell him about the odd phone call where Aubrey says I love you and how she was in a car with another guy and left crying. I didn't quite believe her when she explained these things to him. I knew she was lying through her teeth. I think there were some great things that happened in this episode and I hope they lead to great things to come!moreless

    Another great episode of "October Road" brings us the sad story of an older brother overshadowed by his young brother, a story that is quite common in real life. Pizza Girl really seems like a very nice person to just catch up on a guy like that and help him be happy. An episode is always better with Lindy Booth in it.

    Aubrey's secret seems to be quite a big one. Why does she lie to Nick all the time? Isn't a relationship supposed to be about honesty and stuff? Not only does she cover the truth, but she also lies to him about it. However, it seems like a really huge deal, whatever it is that she is hiding. I guess we'll find out soon.

    Nick and Hannah finally got a scene together after not seeing each other (at least on-screen) since the Christmas episode. The connection seems nice, but they are drifting further apart. The Gavin-Goddard-isn't-the-father story has been expected, and we yet have to find out if Nick's the father or someone else.

    Probably the best part of the episode was the Eddie/Janet thing. It's all so natural... being nervous and all... but at least they did it and now their relationship can evolve into something bigger. Yay! I was rooting for them the entire time.moreless

    It had some good plot development with Big Cat, Hannah, Sam and the whole adoption dilema, and then there was Eddie and Janet love scene, but a spelling bee captivating the whole town?! Come on. Boring. It seems like the writers' strike is being felt all the way in Knights Ridge. Big time. At least maybe Pizza Girl (does she have a real name?) will dump Phil for the other Kornduffer, and maybe this will have to jump-start Phil into finally getting out of the house. He'll have to fight for her.
    And by the way, where does he get the money for pizza? He has some reallllllly understanding friends to support him for 6 or 7 years. Nobody I know would put up with that kind of mooching for that long.moreless

    A big improvement over the past couple of weeks. The drama didn't feel forced, rushed, or repeative in this episode. Ike gives a toast to Owen at the tail end of the episode, but other then that not much attention was paid to that giant storyline that has dominated much of season two. Janet and Eddie really came into there own as characters in this episode, being easily able to hold up scenes with just the two of them and no other major cast members in them. I thought the fact that they finnaly were able to move past first base was a big step, one that should create some more drama now that we know Eddie doesnt stay with girls long after he does it. Aubreys mystery was a great plot point to add to the episode - I feel a sense of wonder that will no doubt bring me back week in and week out. Something is going on with her, the writers can make it a piviotal turning point in the show or write it off at the beginning of the next episode. Overlal though, the entire episode was pretty well put together with only a few slow scenes to bring it down.moreless
