  • Good show, beautiful setting. It makes me feel good to watch three young doctors learn and grow.

There was something very positive to watch all three of the young doctors, who are out of their element, make strides toward fitting in. I especially enjoyed watching Lilly who is always needs a plan and a set of rules move out of her comfort zone. The idea of going somewhere new and starting over while still making a difference appeals to me. So far we've avoided all the soap opera entanglements that is so typical of Grey's Anatomy and I hope it continues.

I don't know why people are all saying that this show is just a rehashing of things that have been done before, maybe I haven't been watching the same shows as those people.

All in all this is an entertaining show and if you haven't given it a try I urge you to do so.moreless
  • they try too hard

I have the feeling that this show would be much better if they stopped forcing that Lily character down out throats so hard... I get it that she is written to be the main character alongside the long haired doctor but the writers could spare us the Lily "special" (aka stupid) moments. so far every episode had one, the first episode had the guy barely out of surgery going to get rid of his wife's ashes (the scene was more than beautiful but the idea was still stupid and out of place) and now we have the bleeding man's proposal that they had time for... at least now we know what a kind hearted person Lily is and how she cares about her patients' personal lives to the extreme... a true hero. and the doctor let's her have her way and is mesmerized by her kind heart and... i feel i'm going to trow up... the rest of the show is quite interesting and the rest of the characters are ok too (even Lily is ok sometimes when she's not over doing it)... it's such a shame they ruin it by forcing things...moreless
  • I have mixed feelings about the longevity of this show.So far, things aren't good.

Off the Map premiered on Wednesday January 12th, and so far I have not really been impressed by what it has to offer. I found myself turning off the TV during the series premiere after watching it for about 15 minutes!

Yes, pilot episodes sometimes don't gain an immediate following with viewers, so I decided to give the show a second chance this past Wednesday. I had seen the previews for this episode and I knew it had something to do with an anaconda. I thought to myself, "this should be interesting", but unfortunately, this episode still failed to deliver. I found myself switching the channel to something else.

I don't know what to expect from Off the Map. I am a huge fan of Grey's Anatomy, and I also watch Private Practice once in a while. Given that Off the Map shares the same producers of these great shows, I think they should find a way of spicing it up really quickly otherwise it will lose more viewers and may not return for a second season. (Based on the Nielsen ratings, it had about 7 million viewers in its premiere week, and this number dropped to 5.8 million viewers in the second week.)moreless
