  • A nice season finale that juggled a lot of interesting story lines in a great pace without dropping the ball.

Especially for a young show that is on the bubble, it's dangerous to end with an open ending. Lucky for this cliffhanger junkie, Off The Map took that risk. It results in a very entertaining episode that balanced the amount of important stories perfectly with the patient-of-the-week. Though a tad predictable, the story of the son who was done living life to the fullest with his terminal ill mother was touching and refreshing. It also kept the doctors on edge and prevented the bigger part of the episode from being boring. Just as engaging were the little girls who got out from a truck accident. The one patient that seemed to be the most expendable, a rookie cop who suffered from panic attacks, turned out to be the most relevant. A welcome twist that launched the episode into it's final, shocking moments. On the character front, there was not much to come by. It's always difficult to connect with characters if you only watch the pilot and the finale, yet for some reason, I found myself invested in some relationships and interested in where everyone stood. All the better was the easy transition to some interesting open endings that weren't all too shocking, but left this one-time viewer intrigiued. Which, in my case, is exactly what a finale should do.
