Terry & Chris was created by and based off the idea by 13 year old artist named John Reynolds, who's father was a worker for Butch Hartman. John based Terry & Chris off his pet cocktail, Petrie and himself. When his father showed Hartman his sketches, Butch and his boss decided to bring John to Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank, California to produce and animate the cartoon (explaining the animation similarities with Butch's other works), making him the youngest animator in Nickelodeon.
