The BBC produced an adaptation of Charles Dicken's Oliver Twist for a new generation; the last BBC production was in 1985. This adaptation is by Sarah Phelps, one of the writers of the long-running UK serial EastEnders, and director Coky Giedroyc. The cast includes Tom Hardy as Bill Sikes, Sophie Okonedo as Nancy, and Timothy Spall as the leader of the pickpockets.

  • Prehaps one of the best versions of Charles Dicken's Classic.

The movie "Oliver!" for years I consider to be the best of the Oliver Twist adaptations. I finally go to watch this BBC show this year. I was impressed by what I saw. The role of Oliver was played by William Miller was completely different from the other versions. Instead of a child that things happen to, now its him setting out making things happen. A tough Oliver instead of a weak one. This has a wonderful script and great actors that carried this show. The BBC did an outstanding job. I highly recommend this version of Oliver Twist. For those that had passed on this show thinking its just another adaptation, needs to take another look.moreless
