As the saying goes when fate shuts a door, God opens a window. Bascially the episode is about finally closing the door to the past and to open the door toward a new chapter life, a destiny. Finally Lily and Rick have came to that point in their life where they've gotten so close that it could lead to a real commitment along the line. Finally Lily and Rick have came to that point in their life where they've gotten so close, that it could lead to a real commitment along the line. But the first step is to bring both their lives together by letting their kids meet. One of the things I like about this is the use of forshadowing and plot devices which are significant for further in the season, despite being obvious thats the point. From the time when Lily put sthe sweater of her late dad on, it's gets her thinking in the right direction on where her relationship with Rick and her family should go. But of course once again their relation is chalanged as well as the family with them. This episode I'll admit is dramatically painful but has a sense of relief in the end.
Everyone is aware that the times are changing, but are somewhat afraid to take that final step they need to take. We see a little more of the Grace and Eli thread expanded a bit from how close both have became but there is finally some tention created which has created another rift for them. When Eli's girlfriend Cassidy as Grace discovers is cheating behind his back, in one scene Grace is threatened to keep her mouth shut when Cassidy's scum bag friends confront her, just hearing their foul attitudes toward Grace makes me thankful girls like them aren't my type. Of course she tells him the truth but like a lot of people he can't bring himself to believe her that is until he discovers the truth for himself to justify Grace's testimony. Just seeing that look on his face and what he goes though after that reminds me of the same experence I had once, you feel just empty inside like someone just destroyed your heart. Then there is the thing with Karen who is still haveing a hard time accepting that Lily is with Rick. Lily tries to interact with one of her friends again but Naomi for an understandable but not a particualar good reason disolves the friendship as well as excludes her from entering the new book club formed, jerk. And finally Rick who is having a dillema at work when his boss out of unfair bias preasures Rick to redesign a certain plan, and Rick unfortunately instead of standing up ofr himself caves in. I'll admit I really don't like Rick's boss in fact they guy looks and acts like a person that hasn't worked a day in his life, I sort of wonder from all the power he has what the heck he does in most of his days. This causes Rick to reroute the plans and we can see how bad he feels about it and that he once again hurt Lily, it reflected with Zoe who was looking foward to meeting Jessie, just seeing her tear that picture she made made my hard sink, I hate see people let down. The kids themselves are a little hesitant and aren't completely accepting of what their about to face.
However once again a light always seems to shine though to the characters mainly for Karen, Rick, and Lily. After in one interesting scene when Karen reads a passage from a Lit book she finally accepts that the past is gone, what she had with Rick was never comming back and that it's time to move on. This of course is the same thing with Rick as we see working that night in his office , when they encouter one another, Lily in that sweater of course finds a note which mentions getting gifts 4 kids, as if she just saw into the future, or at least an idea as to how further things can go. Rick admits holding back a bit because he wanted her to himself have a little room with both of them in, but Lily's says it's time to let them in.
So even he finally leaves the past and goes foward, when he suddenly calls his boss refusing to change his plans and reactivates the plans for their kids to meet, despite the kids hesitantcy except for Zoe they meet in the end whether they like it or not.
Just like with Rick's plans not changing it sort of just goes with another saying no one can ever go back they can only go forward despite how everything looks, you just have to accept it because it's a reality in the end.moreless
