Episode Recap

Henry approaches the Stranger as he works on his bike and asks why he's in Storybrooke. He says that he's just visiting, and Henry asks about the old-fashioned box fastened to his motorcycle. The Stranger says that it contains what he needs to do something, tells Henry that a storm is coming, and drives out. Regina sees the Stranger talking with Henry and comes out, wondering who the newcomer is.

At her apartment, Mary Margaret is rushing to get out, complaining that she overslept. When Emma wonders why she is in a hurry, Mary Margret claims that she's helping with the science fair and has to be there at 7:15. However, she goes to the diner instead and carefully sets up at a table and waits for Dave Nolan to come in at exactly 7:15. He gets coffee on his way to work at the animal shelter, makes small talk with Mary Margaret, and then goes out to hand one of the coffees to his wife, Kathryn. Emma comes in, well aware that Mary Margaret was lying to her. Mary Margaret admits that she knows Dave's entire schedule and explains that she can't get him out of her head. Emma suggests that she should start by not coming to the diner, and Mary Margaret wishes there was a magical cure for love.

Snow is hunting with a spear when Red Riding Hood comes by with food. She notes that it's been a month since they last met and Snow insists that she's fine on her own. However, she asks Red about Prince Charming's marriage and her friend says that he'll be marrying Abigail in two days' time. Snow wishes that she could get the prince out of her head and then realizes that Red knows something. Her friend finally says that there is a man who is rumored to be able to do exactly what Snow wants.

That night, Snow takes a boat out to an island. Rumplestiltskin is waiting for her, well aware that she wants to make a deal. He asks what he can do for her and Snow says that she needs a cure for a broken heart. Rumplestiltskin warns her that he can't make the prince love her, but he can help her to forget him. He fills a vial with lake water and then plucks a lock of her hair and puts into the water, and assures Snow that she won't remember the prince once she drinks it, and the cure must be extreme. When Snow hesitates, Rumplestiltskin says that her lock of hair will suffice, and she agrees to the deal.

Mary Margaret is at the store shopping in preparation for the coming storm when she bumps into Kathryn and Regina. As she helps Kathryn pick up her supplies, she notices that she has a pregnancy test and wishes her luck. Kathryn thanks her and walks away, and Regina tells Mary Margaret to be discreet.

At the castle, King George comes to see James, still posing as Prince Charming, and notes that he's not attending the feast in his honor. He brings him the crown that King Midas has sent as a gift and explains that their new prosperity will feed their kingdom. James reminds him that gratitude wasn't part of their deal and says that his heart belongs to Abigail, but King George knows better and asks who the woman is that he really loves. James says that he met the woman on a journey and King George tells him to forget her. When he says that it was charity, James reminds him that it wasn't charity but the king says to do what he must because nothing will stop the wedding. Once the king leaves, James writes a message to Snow and sends it by dove.

-----

Mary Margaret is walking home through the forest when she hears a dove cooing. She goes into the woods and finds the dove tangled in some fencing. Mary Margaret takes it to the animal shelter and Dr. Thatcher says that it will recover, but that it has formed a bond with its flock. If Mary Margaret doesn't get it back to its flock, it will be alone forever. As she goes to find the flock, Dave says that she shouldn't go out in the storm. Mary Margaret says that no one deserves to be alone and that she doesn't need his help.

A nervous Regina comes to see Emma and ask her to find out more about the Stranger. The mayor thinks there is something familiar about him and wants Emma to find out why he's there. When Emma objects, Regina says she'll do it because it's the right thing to do and because the Stranger was taking an interest in Henry. Emma agrees to look into the situation.

Mary Margaret drives into the woods looking for the dove's flock.

-----

As Snow contemplates the vial, the dove arrives with the note from James. In it he says that he hopes she's found happiness, but that he hasn't forgotten her and asks her to come to him if she loves him.

-----

Mary Margaret comes to a barricade across the road and proceeds on foot with the dove.

-----

Snow sneaks into the castle, claiming to have flowers from Midas' kingdom. Once inside, she makes her way to James' quarters. Before she can approach him, a guard finds her and throws her into a dungeon cell, taking the note with him. Snow tries to find a way out without success, and sees someone in the next cell. It's a dwarf, Grumpy, who warns her that there's no escape. She refuses to yield, saying that there's someone out there that she loves. Grumpy isn't impressed and says that he's imprisoned because he loved a beautiful woman and lost her. He was desperate to get her back so traded his wages to a diamond mine foreman who sold him a stolen rock. Grumpy took the blame and now he's trapped. A dwarf outside speaks up, dressed in black, and introduces himself as Stealthy. Stealthy says that Doc whipped up a sleeping potion to knock out the guards. As Stealthy takes Grumpy away, Snow wishes him luck and Grumpy reluctantly releases her.

-----

Mary Margaret hears the flock but discovers that they're on the other side of a gorge. As she tries to find a way across, she slips and falls partway down the cliff, before grabbing a root. As Mary Margaret starts to fall, Dave arrives and pulls her to safety. He assures her that she wouldn't let her go on her own and they have to go. Mary Margaret refuses to leave and goes to get the dove as the storm begins.

-----

Stealthy leads Grumpy and Snow out and she insists that they need to go out over the walls. The dwarves believe the courtyard is safer and go off on their own. As they cross, King George and his guards arrive and shoot Stealthy when he tries to escape. Grumpy refuse to tell the king where Snow is and he orders the dwarf's death. Snow arrives, threatening to set the courtyard on fire, and King George tells Grumpy to leave. Once he goes, the king tells Snow that they need to talk.

-----

Dave leads Mary Margaret to a cabin and they discover that it's empty. They break in and start a fire, and Mary Margaret worries about who owns it. Dave gives her a blanket but she withdraws and he asks her what's going on. Mary Margaret tells him that she still has feelings for him, but seeing him every morning at 7:15 makes her miserable because it reminds her that he chose Kathryn over her. Dave chuckles briefly and then admits that he goes to the diner every morning at 7:15 to see her. He starts to kiss Mary Margaret, but she says that she can't do it because she knows Kathryn is pregnant. Surprised, Dave admits that he had no idea.

Emma goes to the diner and finds the Stranger at a booth. She says that they need to talk, noting that he's suspicious. The Stranger says that his bike down outside of Regina's house and Henry walked up to him. Emma asks him about the box and he wonders why she's so curious, and then tells her that he's going to make it her wait, inflaming her imagination and frustration. Alternately, he asks her to let him buy her a drink sometime in return for showing her the contents right now. Emma agrees and the Stranger opens the box, revealing an old-fashioned typewriter. He says that he's a writer and that Storybrooke provides inspiration. Emma asks if he's been there before but the Stranger just walks away. When she asks about the drink, he reminds her that he said "sometime" and leaves.

Dave explains that he and Kathryn aren't trying to have a child. Before Mary Margaret can respond, the rain stops and she runs outside to release the dove. They discover that the flock didn't leave because it was waiting for the storm to clear. Mary Margaret releases the dove and it flies off to join the others. As they watch, Dave takes Mary Margaret's hand, but she withdraws and says that it's too painful. He says that it doesn't have to be and that he still has feelings for Mary Margaret. She says he can't have both but Dave says that he has memories of feelings for Kathryn and real feelings for Kathyn. Undeterred, Mary Margaret says that they have no choice but to forget each other and walks away.

-----

King George has seen the note and knows that Snow and James are in love. He tells her that love is a disease and can be vanquished, either by cure or by death. King George tells Snow that James is packing for his new life, and she is going to sneak in and tell him that she doesn't love him. When James' heart is broken, it will cure him. If she refuses, the king will kill James at the hand of an assassin and make him a martyr. When Snow wonders how he can kill his own son, King George tells her that James isn't her son.

Snow goes to James' chambers and he embraces her. As he starts to kiss her, Snow tells him that there can be nothing between them because she doesn't love him. She tells him to find someone who can love him because she never will and gives him the note. As James takes the letter back, Snow walks away, secretly crying.

-----

At home the next morning, Dave asks Kathryn if there's anything she wants to tell him. She admits that ever since he's come home, it's never felt like Dave was really there with her. Kathryn says that she wants a family and thought she was pregnant, but the test can back negative. However, she's relieved because they're not ready, and wants to fix things between them. Kathryn asks him to go with her to Archie for counseling. Dave says that he knows they should be in love and he wants to make it work. When Kathryn points out that it's almost 7:15 and they should go to the diner, Dave says that they should have breakfast there instead.

-----

Snow walks away from the castle and Grumpy and the other dwarves join her. He asks if she's okay and Snow says that she lost the man that she loves. Grumpy invites her to come home with them because they all lost someone today, and that they'll protect her because she helped him escape. When Snow says that her heart has broken, Grumpy says that it get better. She contemplates Rumplestiltskin's potion and the chance that it will erase her pain, but Grumpy says that his pain makes him who he is and he wouldn't give that up for anything. He tells her that she can always drink the potion if the pain becomes too great, but for now she has them.

-----

At home, Mary Margaret looks at the clock and Emma takes her hand.

-----

James rides into the wood and calls to Snow. There's no sign of her, and Red Riding Hood tells her that Snow never came back. James vows to find her, now and forever.

Grumpy arrives at their cabin to tell Snow that James abandoned Abigail at the altar. However, she has no idea who he's talking about and Grumpy realizes that she drank the potion.

-----

At 7:45, Mary Margaret goes to get coffee. Dave comes in, sees her, and runs out. Mary Margaret goes after him and they realize that there's no way they can avoid seeing each other. Dave tells Mary Margaret that Kathryn isn't pregnant and they kiss... unaware that Regina is watching them.
