Regina and Henry are at home eating dinner and staring at each other when the doorbell rings. They mayor and answers the door and finds Emma there. She says that Henry invited her and everyone in town appears. Henry appears behind her with rope and suddenly Regina finds herself tied to a tree in the center of town. Everyone tells her that she stole their happiness and Regina insists that she just wanted to win. Emma takes an apple and says that it's rotting, and then takes a sword and swings at Regina's neck...

... and the mayor wakes up from her nightmare. She runs to Henry's room and confirms that he's in bed asleep. Regina is unaware that he's piled some pillows up beneath the sheets.

Emma is driving Henry out of town. When Henry realizes that Emma is driving out of town, he insists that she has to stay and help everyone. Emma tells him that she's doing what's best for him. When they drive past the border, Henry grabs wheel and drives the car off the road. He begs Emma not to make him go and tells her that her family needs her.

King George has James brought before him and accuses him of betraying him by following true love. He then has James taken to the town guillotine and has the executioner pull the blade... and it turns into water. Regina and her men arrive and she offers to pay all of the money that Midas would have given King George. She assures him that she plans to make James suffer by using him to put an end to Snow White.

Regina goes out to her apple tree and discovers that the fruit is rotting. She goes to Gold and demands to know why. He feigns ignorance and she believes that the curse is fading because Emma. Gold invites her to tell him everything and suggests that Regina might have to lose Henry to keep the curse unbroken. When Regina says she's rather get rid of Emma, Gold reminds her that killing Emma will break the curse because he designed it that way. She tells him to undo it and Gold says that he can't because of the lack of magic. Regina accuses him of wanting the curse broken and offers a new deal. She asks to kill Emma without breaking the curse, but Gold says that he isn't interested and is already planning a trip. When Regina offers him anything, Gold says that she has nothing he wants and warns her that when the people realize what Regina did to them, they'll want blood.

At the school, Regina puts a card with a white rabbit onto the bicycle belonging to Jefferson's daughter Paige.

Emma returns home and Mary Margaret complains that she didn't say goodbye. She reminds Emma of how she said they have to stick together because they were family, and demands an answer. Emma says that she doesn't want people relying on her and that she tried to take Henry with her. Mary Margaret points out that Emma can't give Henry a stable home and that running isn't best for him. She warns that Emma is reverting to the person she used to and that she needs to figure out the best thing for Henry.

Snow, Granny, and the dwarves approach the castle. Red arrives and tells them that Regina is there and they figure that it's a trap. However, Snow says that there's no turning back. As the others leave, Snow tells Red that she destroyed Regina's happiness and now the queen plans to destroy hers.

Regina goes to see James in the dungeons and tells him that she doesn't want his life. She boasts that she has a more satisfying punishment for Snow and leaves, holding an apple.

Jefferson comes to see Regina after seeing the card on his daughter's bicycle, recognizing it as a signal to him. She asks for his help and reminds him that if he kills her then he won't get back to his daughter. However, Regina assures him that there's a way for both of them to get what they want. She then brings out Jefferson's hat and tells him to use it again. Jefferson says that he can't use it without magic, but Regina says that she has enough magic remaining for one last journey back to their land. Once there, Regina can get the solution she needs to dispose of Emma without breaking the curse. When Jefferson wonders why he shouldn't let Emma succeed, Regina reminds him of the life of poverty that he had there. She tells him that she wants her child back as much as he does and they need to work together, and then she'll wake up Grace and let her remember that she is his daughter Paige. Jefferson refuses and says that he wants Regina to make him forget and write a new story for him with his daughter. Regina agrees... after they take care of Emma.

Grumpy calls in the Blue Fairy and her friends to launch an airborne attack while Snow and the others scale the walls. Snow goes first and disposes of the guards while the others climb up and join her. They continue their assault only to find themselves surrounded. However, the fairies arrive and launch a magic dust attack, putting the soldiers to sleep.

Henry goes to see August and tells him that Emma was going to leave. August admits that he failed to make Emma believe, and reveals that his arms have also reverted to wood. Henry realizes that the curse is real and August is Pinocchio, and August explains that he's turning back because he hasn't been a good boy. If the curse doesn't break then he will continue transforming, and August warns Henry that Emma won't see it because she doesn't believe. Now he plans to spend his remaining time with his real father, Marco. Henry wonders if everyone is giving up and August says that it's up to him.

Emma meets Archie at the diner and he warns her that she has no case for custody, and asks if Henry is getting hurt in the struggle between her and Regina. The psychiatrist admits that Henry has retreated into his fantasy life and having trouble at school, and Emma wonders if Regina would hurt her son. Archie assures her that Regina might hurt anyone else but not Henry. Emma asks if Henry has been better since she came into his life, and Archie tells her that she has to end her struggle with Regina.

Snow gets to the dungeons and frees James. However, when she enters his cell she discovers that he's only appearing through a mirror and he's actually at Regina's castle. James tells her to have faith that they'll be together and then Regina appears. She suggests that they stop fighting and agree to a private talk, unarmed. Snow agrees and Regina tells her to go to where it all began. She returns to the others and tells them that she's going to the parley despite their warnings. Snow refuses to let the rest of them endanger their lives because of her feud with Regina. She thanks them for their support but insists that it's something she has to do alone.

Regina takes Jefferson to the crypt where she keeps the last bit of magic: the things she brought with her. Jefferson tries to activate the hat but nothing happens, and Regina says that it has to absorb the magic that's there. She places a few trinkets into it but Jefferson says they need something that still works. Regina takes out her engagement ring and reluctantly places it into the hat. It begins to spin but doesn't open a portal and Jefferson says that there's not enough magic. All he can do is touch the other side and bring something back, and asks Regina if there's something she needs that can help her. Smiling, Regina says that there is one thing she can hold in her hand, and he tells her to concentrate on the place and time. She does so and tells Jefferson that she needs... an apple.

Snow meets Regina at her family's stables and the Queen leads her into the woods to the spot where she ran down Snow's runaway horse. Daniel's grave is there and Regina says that he died because of Snow. Snow apologizes and Regina says that nothing can change the fact that she broke her promise. She then takes out an apple and says that it won't kill Snow, but it will trap her within her own body, suffering from dreams formed from her own regrets. However, she tells Snow that it must be taken willingly. When Snow wonders why she would do that, Regina says that she will kill James if she doesn't. Snow takes the apple and congratulates her on winning, and then eats it. She collapses while in a dungeon, James senses what has happened. The apple tumbles away...

… and falls out of the hat portal. Jefferson gives it to Regina, who says that the deal isn't done until she gets Emma to taste the apple. She cuts it up and makes a turnover from it.

Emma comes to see Regina at her home and asks to talk. The mayor invites her in and Emma says that she's leaving town to spare Henry. However, she still wants to visit and spend time with her son. As the oven timer goes off, Regina invites Emma into the kitchen and gets out the turnover. Emma assures her that Henry will be Regina's son and prepares to leave. Seemingly satisfied, Regina puts the turnover in a Tupperware container and gives it to Emma as a peace offering. After a moment, Emma takes it and leaves.

Snow's friends go to the stables and find her body. They don't find any sign of breath and believe she sacrificed herself for true love. At her castle, Regina watches them and laughs in satisfaction as she keep James alive but imprisoned.

Regina goes to the pawnshop and tells Gold that no one is going anywhere. She tells him what she's done, and he reminds her that all magic can come with a price. Regina says that he can pay it because the curse will be stronger than ever and Gold won't be going anywhere.

Emma goes back to her apartment and invites Henry there. She tells him that he can't go with her and she can't stay. Emma tells him that he has to set aside his believe in fairy tales, and reminds him that Regina has always fought to keep him. He hugs her and then notices the turnover on the table. When Emma explains that Regina gave it to her, he says that the deal was a trick to get Emma to eat the poisoned apple. Emma tries to eat the turnover to prove he's wrong, but he grabs it and eats it himself, saying that he believes in her. After a moment, he collapses.
