Episode Recap

Ruby runs to the camp and warns Prince James and the others that King George is on his way and has a new general, the Leviathan. An arrow flies into the tent and they go outside to confront the king's warriors. James tells Snow White to meet him at the cabin and says that it's time that she meets his mother, and they split up so that James can draw their fire. The masked Leviathan sees Snow run into the woods and captures her. She demands to see his mask and he removes it and tells Snow that his name is Lancelot. When she says that she's heard of him as a Knight of the Round Table, Lancelot says that he is no longer with them.

Cora tells Emma that the unconscious Mary Margaret will be okay. Emma asks where they are and Cora explains that they are an island that the survivors believe is a haven from the world's dangers. She explains that she is Regina's mother. Emma tells her that Mary Margaret is Snow and her grandson is Henry, as Mary Margaret wakes up and warns Emma that Cora is far more dangerous than Regina ever is. Emma warns that Cora may be their only choice. A man tosses down a rope and tells them that their leader wants to talk to them.

-----

As they walk through Storybrooke, David tells Henry that he's already talked to Jefferson and he won't help. He plans to seek out magic and wants Henry as far away from magic as possible because of the price it extracts. Henry agrees to go to school, but runs off as soon as David is out of sight.

-----

Emma insists that she just was trying to find a way home, but Mary Margaret insists that she knows more about the world and Cora. When Emma wonders if she came through because she didn't think she could handle herself, Mary Margaret says that she came through to be with her. Lancelot comes out and embraces Mary Margaret, who returns his embrace. Meanwhile Aurora watches them hug and wonders why Lancelot trusts them, and Mulan says that Phillip trusted Lancelot and that they don't seek vengeance. Aurora agrees... but draws a dagger when Mulan's back is turned.

As Lancelot provides a meal, he admits that they don't know how some of them in this region escaped the curse. They were forced to fight to find the haven, but he assures them that they're safe. Mary Margaret asks if there is a way back but Lancelot warns that the ogres have returned to the Enchanted Forest. He insists that there are no more portals left but Mary Margaret says that she knows of one that is left. She's reluctant to speak near Cora but Lancelot says that the curse stripped her of her powers. They only keep her locked up as a precaution, but Lancelot agrees that she's dangerous. He agrees to let them go but only if they take Mulan with them. Mary Margaret immediately agrees.

-----

Lancelot takes Snow to King George, who says that he's not there to kill her. As Lancelot brings her water, King George explains that love can be destroyed and he knows of pain. James rejected his offer of a kingdom and chose true love instead, and King George tells Snow that he knows of true love. She became cursed and drank a potion that made it impossible for them to conceive a child. James rejected George's offer so the king has decided to make him suffer pain. Snow looks down at the water and she realizes that King George cursed her so that she would never bear a child.

-----

Mulan offers Snow White and Emma their choice of weapons. Emma asks for her gun back and Mulan give her the strange weapon. She warns them that ogres are more dangerous than anything she can conceive. As they leave, Mary Margaret tells Emma that they can use the wardrobe to get back to Storybrooke, but first they must find out if it survived the curse. To obtain it, they must go home.

-----

Henry finds Jefferson at the docks as the man looks at child's drawing of himself and words saying her father is missing. Jefferson says that he can't help and suggests that he talk to Regina and see what is in her vault. Henry sees the picture and knows that his daughter is looking for her father. He wonders why Jefferson isn't there at school to get Paige and asks why he isn't trying to find her daughter, and Jefferson says that he left her. He explains that he was going there but fate reminded him that he shouldn't see her, and Henry says that not knowing is the worst thing.

Regina is packing up at her office when she gets a call from Henry. He asks to have lunch with her and Regina says that she'll see him at the diner in ten minutes. Once she leaves, Henry slips in the back door and takes Regina's ring of keys.

-----

Mulan picks a spot to camp for the night and suggests they build a fire. Emma reminds them that the ogres are about. Mary Margaret explains that ogres are almost blind and hunt by scent and smell, and suggests that Emma stay there while they get food and water. Emma reluctantly agrees.

-----

The king's men dump Snow in the forest amidst the ruins of the rebel camp. Lancelot rides up and Snow knocks him off his horse, but he says that he's there to help. He insists that he has some honor left and warns her that George has sent men to kill James's mother.

At the cabin, James is with his mother Ruth when he hears horses approaching. He sends Ruth inside and goes to confront the newcomers, but the soldiers surround him. Ducking and weaving, James takes the fight to them and kills them. Ruth comes out, hit by a stray arrow, and James runs to her. She admits that she came to help when she thought she was hurt. Lancelot and Snow arrive and Ruth looks up at her daughter in law.

-----

As night falls, Aurora ambushes Mary Margaret and prepares to kill her, blaming her for Phillip's death. Mary Margaret tosses her to the ground and says that she know it feels like to be separated from those one loves. Emma steps in and fires a warning shot, but the ogres hear the sound and move in. They split up and Mary Margaret and Emma go one way. Emma trips and Mary Margaret runs on, unknowing. An ogre emerges from the woods and Emma reaches for her gun, but the ogre grabs it and crushes it. As it bellows at her, Snow returns and yells at the ogre. As it comes at her, Snow shoots an arrow into its eye and kills it. Emma is surprised that she knew her mother could hit the target, and Mary Margaret admits that she didn't know for sure. She tells Emma to listen to her and warns that the gun won't work there, and Emma admits that she's right.

-----

Lancelot warns the others that the arrow is poisoned and James realizes that they need to go to Lake Nostos and use the magical waters to heal Ruth. They put Ruth on a wagon and head to the lake. As they travel, James wonders how Lancelet fell from grace and he simply says that it was because of a women. As the two men scout ahead, Snow tends to Ruth, who thanks her for giving James something to believe in. She tells Snow that James has always dreamed of having a wife and child, and shows Snow the magical necklace that her mother gave to her to predict the sex of her child. Ruth explains how it works and offers to try it, and Snow reluctant agrees. When they try it, nothing happens and Ruth dismisses it as a superstition. Snow starts to cry and then tells Ruth that she has been cursed with infertility. Ruth tells her that the lake waters should be able to heal her as well, and assures Snow that she will be a wonderful mother.

-----

As the group moves through the woods, Aurora starts to fall behind and Mulan says that she should have stayed back. When the princess complains about the cold, Emma offers her jacket and says that she can sympathize with screwing up. As they talk, they arrive at the castle across the lake.

-----

James and the others arrive at the lake only to discover that it has dried up.

-----

Using his storybook, Henry finds the mausoleum where Regina has her vault. He finds the concealed door beneath the casket and goes down into the chamber. When he opens one box, two sneaks emerge from it. David arrives in time to slam the lid shut and explains Regina realized that Henry had set her up and asked David to help. Henry says that he should be over in the Enchanted Forest with Emma and Mary Margaret, learning to fight and ride horses, and David tells him that they'll do it together from now on.

-----

James explores the lake bed and finds the siren's skeleton. He realizes that when he killed the siren before, it destroyed the lake. Lancelot says that there is still hope and finds a small shell containing one sip of the water. Ruth, overhearing, tells Snow to drink it so it will lift the curse and let them have a child. When Snow refuses to let her give up her life, Ruth says that parents put their children first and Snow will understand. Snow disagrees, saying that she was raised without a mother and wouldn't know how to be one. James brings the water over and Ruth reluctantly drinks it, and then tells Snow that to have faith that they'll find another way.

-----

Mary Margaret and the others enter the castle and find Snow and James' nursery. As Mulan and Aurora go to watch the gate, Snow talks about how she had planned to teach Emma everything in the room, but they never got to be a family. Emma says that they have a family in Storybrooke and they need to go back, and they wonder how it can work.

-----

Ruth doesn't recover and James realizes that something is wrong. She stops him and says that there is no more magic there and she doesn't want to spend her last moments that way. James blames himself but Ruth says that he shouldn't be and that she would give her life for his happiness. Her only regret is that she won't see him marry Snow. Snow tells her that she will and asks Lancelot to perform their wedding then and there. He performs the ritual using a chalice as Ruth looks on, smiling. As they kiss, Ruth passes away and James says goodbye to her mother.

-----

Emma and Mary Margaret find the wardrobe and realize that they have to take it back to the island to find someone who can use magic to activate it. Lancelot arrives and explains that he heard about the ogre attack and came to make sure they were okay. He's sent Aurora and Mulan to make camp and then examines the wardrobe carefully. When he mentions Henry, Mary Margaret draws a sword and realizes that it's trick because there is only one person they told about Henry. "Lancelot" transforms into Cora and she explains that Lancelot died a long time ago but she gave the survivors a hero to rally around.

Cora pins them both with magic and thanks Snow for helping her find a way back. While Cora tells Mary Margaret that she plans to visit her daughter and son, Emma uses the gunpowder from her bullets to start a fire and burn the wardrobe Cora attacks her but Mulan arrives in time to deflect the fireball. The sorceress teleports away, warning that they're not done, and Emma realizes that their way home is destroyed.

-----

After James buries his mother, he tells Snow that he still has a family with her. He gives her the necklace and Snow starts to tell him about the curse. However, the necklace indicates the child's sex and she realizes that they're going to have a child someday. Realizing that the curse can be broken, she tells James that it's a surprise. He goes to regroup their forces and tells Snow that they will take back the kingdom as a family. Once he leaves, Emma turns to Lancelot and realizes that he conspired with Ruth to put the last bit of lake water in the wedding chalice. Lancelot says he doesn't know what she's talking about and asks about the child's sex, and Snow says that it will be a girl.

-----

Mulan wonders what they will tell the survivors and Mary Margaret insists that they will tell them the truth, that Lancelot died an honorable death. When Aurora wonders who will lead the people, Mulan says that Mary Margaret must do it. She says that she still has to find a way back, but both Mulan and Aurora pledge to help them. As they leave, Emma tells Mary Margaret that visiting the castle has showed her that Mary Margaret gave up everything for her and still is, and is shocked that someone has put her first. Mary Margaret hugs her daughter and tells her to get used to it. They leave after Mary Margaret takes one last look at the nursery and imagines what it once was. Once they're gone, Cora returns and takes ashes from what's left of the wardrobe.

-----

Jefferson approaches his daughter Paige on the street and calls her name. She runs to embrace him, saying she knew he would find her. Henry is nearby, watching from Emma's car, when Davis comes over and says that he needs to train him to fight. He shows him a pair of wooden swords and says that it's time he learn how to use a sword. They go out onto the street and start fencing, while George watches them.
