Episode Recap

August wakes up in his room when his leg starts convulsing. He falls out of the bed and staggers over to his desk, and then calls someone and says that he needs to accelerate the plan. Later, he meets with Henry and asks if he's ready. Henry isn't sure why what they're doing has to do with getting Emma to believe, and August says that sometimes they need to improvise. Henry then goes into Gold's pawnshop and tries to buy a gift for Mary-Margaret. While the boy distracts Gold, August sneaks in to Gold's office and looks through the shelves. However, Gold finds him and August says that he's looking or some maps. The pawnbroker directs him out front and glances suspiciously at him.

Emma goes to the hospital to talk to Kathryn. She admits that the last thing she remembers is the car accident and then waking up in a basement. Dr. Whale confirms that Kathryn was drugged, and she says that she woke up in a field and started walking. Emma explains that the DNA of the heart matched Kathryn's and they're checking to see how it happened. Kathryn wonders who would frame Mary Margaret.

Regina goes to see Gold and accuses him of breaking their deal. He insists that he kept their deal to make sure that something "tragic" happened to her and he did. Regina warns that it will raise questions about what happened and how the test results were faked, and she realizes that Gold set it up so that it would all lead to her. She wonders what he's up to, noting that he was the one who created the curse. Regina asks why he did it and Gold tells her to figure it out herself.

-----

Baelfire is playing kickball in the village when he runs out into the road. A donkey driver scrapes him with his cart, realizes that he's Rumplestiltskin's son, and tries to apologize, but Rumplestiltskin comes over. The driver insists that Baelfire is fine and apologizes, but Rumplestiltskin notices a scratch and transforms the driver into a snail and then crushes it underfoot. The townspeople quickly walk away in terror.

-----

David comes to the hospital to see Kathryn and finds her sleeping. When he tries to kiss her on the forehead, he startles her awake. David apologizes for lying to her and cheating on her, and Kathryn assures her that it's okay because what they had wasn't enough for either of them. She wishes him well and he leaves.

Granny throws a party at the apartment to welcome congratulate Mary Margaret on being cleared. Meanwhile, Henry asks August what happens and he says that whatever he's looking for will find him. Henry gives Mary Margaret a card from and the bell he bought for her at the pawnshop. As Henry leaves, David comes in and Emma suggests that he give Mary Margaret some time. He reluctantly agrees and leaves, and Gold comments to Emma that it must be hard to let her son go. She accuses him of holding Kathryn, but Gold points out that she can't decide if he's working for or against Regina. Gold then asks about August, but Emma says that he's a writer and doesn't see a cause for the pawnbroker's concern because she trusts the writer.

-----

Rumplestiltskin goes home with Baelfire and dismisses their mute maid, Onora. Baelfire points out that he killed the man and Rumplestiltskin insists that he deserved it. He starts to heal Baelfire's scrape but the boy refuses his help and asks him to bandage it. Baelfire then warns that his father hurts people all the time, but Rumplestiltskin insists that he used his power to stop the war and lead the children home. His son says that he's succeeded now and he can stop using magic, but Rumplestiltskin says that he needs power to protect Baelfire. When Baelfire asks if he's tried to get rid of his magic, Rumplestiltskin reminds him that the only way he knows of is if someone kills him with the dagger with his true name on it. Onora comes back in and Rumplestiltskin hastily hides the knife and tells his son to look for some other way, but warns him not to get his hopes up. Baelfire asks if he would give up his power if he wants and Rumplestiltskin says that he can give him whatever he wants. When Baelfire says that he just wants his father back, Rumplestiltskin says that if he can find a way then he'll do it. Baelfire offers his hand and they strike a deal.

-----

Gold breaks into August's apartment and goes through his papers, and finds a sketch of the dagger.

Emma comes by to see Sydney at the diner. She shows him the bug that she found in the flower vase and accuses him of spying on her for Regina. Sydney insists that Regina is a good mayor and an amazing woman, and Emma wonders if he's in love with the mayor. She warns him that she'll soon have the DNA evidence that will tie Kathryn to Regina and he needs to consider whether Regina is worth protecting.

August gets on his motorcycle and rides away, and Gold drives after him.

-----

The village boys are playing in the woods and Rumplestiltskin drops Baelfire off while he tends to some nearby business. The boys quickly run away in fear, but the neighbor girl Morraine comes by. She says that she doesn't think Rumplestiltskin is so bad, but Baelfire warns that he's getting worse. He wonders how to relieve his father of his power, and Morraine says that during the wars she heard of Reul Ghorm, a mystical being of vast powers. When Rumplestiltskin comes back, Morraine quickly leaves and Baelfire points out that there are stains on his boots. Baelfire realizes that he killed Onora even though she's mute, and Rumplestiltskin insist that even mutes can draw a picture.

-----

Gold watches as August goes to the nunnery and talks with the Mother Superior. Once August leaves, Gold approaches the Mother Superior and asks what August wanted. He threatens to double her rent unless she explains, and the Mother Superior says that August was looking for his father after a long separation and finally found him. However, August said that he hasn't talked to his father yet because it was a difficult parting between them and they have issues to resolve.

-----

Baelfire goes into the woods at night and calls to Reul Ghorm, asking for his help. The Blue Fairy appears and offers her help, realizing that there's something dark in his life. She admits that she can't strip Rumplestiltskin of his magic, but she can send him to a world where he doesn't have magic. The Blue Fairy says that they must go somewhere that they can escape the curse and Baelfire says that he will do whatever it takes. She has him hold out his hand and gives him the very last magic bean, and tells him to follow it wherever it leads them.

-----

That night, David approaches Mary Margaret, who tries to ignore him. He insists that they need to talk and tries to apologize, admitting that he didn't believe her. Mary Margaret tells him that she'll never forget how he forsook her and believed the frame against her, and wonders if there is some dark force that keeps pouring poison between them. She tells David that she doesn't want their good times replaced with memories of how David refused to believe her. David apologizes again, insisting that he loves her, but Mary Margaret says that's what makes it so sad and walks away.

-----

Back at home, Baelfire says he's found a way to make things right and tells him of the Reul Ghorm. Rumplestiltskin translates it as the Blue Star, and realizes that Baelfire has dealt with the Blue Fairy. Rumplestiltskin refuses to give up his power and become weak, and Baelfire reminds him of his deal and asks if he's backing out. After a moment, Rumplestiltskin says that he'll keep the deal.

-----

Gold goes to see Archie but then starts to go. Archie invites him to come in and talk, and Gold explains that he had a son and may have found him. He wonders if he's just seeing what he wants to see, and Archie asks if his son would recognize him. Gold isn't sure if his son is ready for a reunion and may still be angry. Archie suggests that his son may be holding back and notes that anger between a parent and child is normal. When Gold says that his son may be there to kill him, Archie admits that isn't normal and suggests that Gold be honest and tell his son that he's been trying to fix things.

Later, Gold tracks down August by the lake and says that he knows who he is and what he's looking for. August says that the lying can stop and calls him Papa.

-----

Baelfire leads Rumplestiltskin outside and casts the magic bean onto the forest floor. A portal opens up and Rumplestiltskin holds back, insisting he can't go because it's a trick. Baelfire promises it'll be okay and steps forward, holding his hand, but Rumplestiltskin tries to pull back. His son calls him a coward and Rumplestiltskin lets go of his hand. Baelfire plummets into the portal and it seals up behind him as Rumplestiltskin tries to dig down, insisting that he wants to go with him.

-----

Gold admits to August that he was a coward and should never have let him go, and tells him that ever since he left, Gold has been looking for him. Gold asks him to be the bigger man and forgive him, and August turns and hugs him in forgiveness. August admits that he was looking for the knife, figuring that if Gold still had it then it meant he hadn't changed. They go to dig it up where Gold hid it after Emma arrived to keep Regina finding it. August digs up the dagger and Gold gives it to him and tells him to destroy it, saying he doesn't need it anymore. After a moment, August takes the dagger and then points it at Gold, trying to control him. Gold realizes that August isn't his son because Baelfire would have known that there was no magic in the world to use. The pawnbroker takes the knife and demands answers, and August explains that he needed Gold to work for it so that he would believe what he wanted to believe. Gold figures that August is from the fairytale world and demands to know who told him about the knife. August says that a fairy told him and Gold asks why he took the risk, and August says that he'll die anyway. He explains that he's sick and needs magic. Since he can't get the savior, Emma, to believe, he chose a different route. Gold says that Emma trusts him and it could be enough, and tells August to try again. He explains that since August will die either way, he'll let him live for the moment so he can get something out of it.

-----

Rumplestiltskin calls for the Blue Fairy. When she comes, he demands to know how he can follow Baelfire and the Blue Fairy warns that there are no more magic beans. He realizes that a curse could work, and he vows that he will do nothing else and love nothing else until he finds a way to go to the other world and find Baelfire, no matter what the cost.

-----

Emma finds Regina waiting for her in jail. The mayor says that she's going to provide a confession and then calls Sydney. He confesses that he held Kathryn in a summer cottage, stole Regina's skeleton key to plant the knife, and bribed a lab tech to plant the DNA. Sydney claims that he hoped to break the story himself and get his job back. Emma doesn't believe him but Sydney insists that he can provide all of the evidence to incriminate himself. Regina insists that Sydney is telling the truth, and Emma calls her out into the hallway. She warns Regina that she is going to start playing a different game, and that Regina will leave Henry alone from now on because she is going to take back her son.
