One House Street was a television program that was one of the first to
feature rap music in a positive light. The party show would focus on a
number of the latest street dances, setting the stage for some of the
urban trends that would emerge in the early '90s. It was also one of the
first shows to feature DJ's battling and scratching, exposing audiences
to the increasingly popular hip-hop movement. Created by Michael Nise,
One House Street was broadcast in Philadelphia, Chicago and Miami for
one season in 1991.
